  1. Thanks Snowbear. Just looked into it. Definitely sounds like it may be more of an obsessive personality as he does need control over everything and the person does not seem to be concerned over being focused on this topic at all. CBT probably wouldn't go down well due to the persons other conditions but could get advice from someone who works in CBT for things to possibly try.
  2. Hello. I am hoping for a bit of advice around a person who obsesses over having an intimate relationship (only interested in the physical aspect). This will be the main (if not the only) focus all day / night, every day for weeks (or longer) at a time. This affects the person's life as they will have no interest in activities they typically are involved in and ones they enjoy such as reading or playing guitar. Even daily tasks can be difficult for them to remember to do. It appears they think that because they have these thoughts, they will come true as they are. The expectations seem quite unrealistic and at times will act on these impulses in inappropriate ways. This can lead to a lot of anxiety and anger at times. Could this be OCD related? I've been looking into it but was not sure as I don't think they try to make these thoughts stop and their strategy to release frustration seems to be talking about it non-stop. Many people want some form of a relationship but it ideally shouldn't affect their daily life. Thanks.
  3. Hi. The person does suffer with OCD; hoarding and needing the exact replica of things he owns or things that breaks as well as needing the same routines. Thank you. I will post in there as well.
  4. I'd agree with the guy's above concerning catastrophic thinking. Everyone can feel overwhelmed at times, especially parents who think they must be on top of everything all the time and looking as if they can manage anything! Im not sure whether this will be any help: Companies usually encourage you to see occupational health due to company policies around welfare of staff. It's typically a 45 minute meeting and they may offer you counselling or you can ask for it if you wish. They will ask if you have any plans or ideas yourself though so (if you do decide to go) you could say you are booked onto CBT. I recently had to go see them after being off sick due to stress. It was mostly to see what the company could do to better support yourself/employees in the future and to see what you may be able to do yourself. I thought the worst before going. I was sure I'd lose my job due to my mental state but things have actually improved which was a massive shock! Not sure if its similar, as mine was mostly work related although other factors have come up after talking to my work place which made a lot of sense and I realised it wasn't all work related and there was some other personal issues that were hiding away, not necessarily negative ones either.
