False Memory Help

Something that has helped me suss out OCD lies from real events is this:

"False memories start after real ones end, so if you're wondering whether or not something happened, it didn't"

Also, the fact that you're so bothered by the possibility is just further proof that it's a lie. Think about it, if it actually had happened, you wouldn't start feeling guilty now, you would of started to right after it happened, or during, even.

I know how hard it can be to distinguish, I fought with a nasty one for months, and still struggle, at times. But, these lines of thinking helped me a lot. Hopefully, they can help you too!

This is the worst one I've had as it's stuck around for a month and progressively got worse, reassurance hasn't worked and I know I made a rod for my own back by ruminating, reassurance seeking etc and that's why it hasn't gone away. I just hate how real it feels, like it definitely happened even though everyone says it can't have.
