Hi everyone,

I feel like I'm posting alot at the moment, but I'm starting to open up finally and I guess I have a lot to say!

I was just wondering if anyone had managed to have a one on one appointment with Paul McKenna to try and treat their ocd?

I'm asking because I've seen another hypnotherapist called Dominic Knight in London, and it didn't do anything for me. I definitely felt relaxed, but there was no long term effects.

How exactly would I go about trying to contact/get an appointment with Paul McKenna directly?

Thanks!

I have to tell you, lostgirl, that hypnosis is not a recommended treatment for OCD. I have been on this forum for three years now and I have not met one single person whose OCD was helped by hypnosis. Better to save your money and spend it on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, which is the only recommeded treatment for OCD. Or better yet, get it free if your country supports that.

I'm afraid Paul McKenna wouldn't be able to help. Hypnosis doesn't work for OCD. As PB says the only treatment shown to work is CBT with or without meds. I understand the urge to find a miracle quick-fix solution but unfortunately for OCD this doesn't exist. However the good news is that if you work hard at doing CBT then you will see significant improvements or even a complete remission of symptoms.

He may be famous, but he's not medically qualified (to my knowledge) The other guy you mentioned is useless too, had a couple of bad reports about him too.

Hypnosis will not treat your OCD, not matter how famous the person offering it is.   We have an effective treatment that does work when delivered correctly in CBT, so spend the hundreds you plan to spend on hypnosis on a CBT and OCD specialist. I can give you a few names.
