Last hope of help

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

need a place to let off some frustration and hopefully talk to others who understand how hard it sometimes is to love someone with OCD!

My partner has severe OCD, he has suffered for around 15 years and we have pretty much exhausted all the help on offer here in Devon, next steps seem to be a specialist hospital in London, has anyone had any dealings with this place? Would love to hear about it....

im finding it increasingly hard to be upbeat and positive when quite honestly I wonder if things will ever get any better for him. It completely effects our lives 24/7 and he is unable to live a normal happy life, his constant checking and reassurance seeking can sometimes be so exhausting, then I feel guilty as I know it's not his fault but sometimes wish he could fight it more!!

Hi,

I'm afraid I don't have any experience of specialist hospitals, although a couple of years ago my husband and I went to a week long course at the OCD centre in Devon, I'm not sure if it's still running but I'd be happy to share more about our experience there if it's of use to you?

I can tell you you are not alone though, my partner also has suffered for most of his life and we are both constantly affected by it. It is truly exhausting, sometimes you feel like no one else in the world could understand, so always feel free to vent and remember you're both doing great, even when it feels like you're not.

I hope you find support soon, I'd be very interested to hear how it goes if you do go to London.
