He should be coordinating every aspect of your care. Including organising therapy. You've asked who can help you. He can. It's his job.

Just asking for help my cc is away for the week i have no one else

Who says you are agoraphobic? I thought I read you can get out locally?      If you are genuinely unable to get out then the NHS will be able to arrange for a therapist to visit you, but I am not sure this is nothing more than avoidance in your case.  I am not trying to be harsh, but just trying to help you understand what is going on.

(I will merge with your earlier thread)

Ok then I apologise, I was under the impression you were trying to avoid coming into contact with children that trigger your OCD.   The care worker is wrong, the NHS can supply therapists but you may need to push for home visits and have to wait for that.   If you're already under the NHS mental health services I would ask them again (tell them I suggested it to pressure them to know you're getting external advice) to assign you to a clinical psychiatrist for home visit CBT for the agoraphobia and OCD.  See what they say. If they say no, ask then to confirm in writing why not, and if you can scan or copy their reasons I can advise further.

The other option is pushing them to refer to the Maudsley (Centre for Anxiety DIsorders and Trauma) they do home visits within the M25 corridor I believe. This may be what needs to happen, but you will need to fight your local NHS to agree to make the referral.

Local resources are stretched so sometimes some local services will try and avoid offering such a service, but should in such cases as yours.  I am not sure the CPN is the right person to be able to arrange it if he's already telling you to go private.  Are you in touch with your GP? it may be worth asking your GP to arrange such an appointment for you.

Hi David

You say you cannot leave your house for CBT yet you would be prepared to stay as an inpatient in a hospital, do you go to your GP for your Meds review?

As Ashley says you are lucky to live in London with good access to treatment. I live in Cumbria and even health professionals have admitted that's a disadvantage.

I had CBT through the NHS 3 years ago. It was tough love from my 2 children who were worried I wouldn't cope when they flew the nest to university. Ok I have Cerebral Palsy too but my OCD is much more disabling. I saw a therapist at first at my GP Surgery then at my home for ERP.

I agree with OceanDweller that the person, your GP or otherwise, should be accessing CBT for you. Although I could have self referred through IAPT my GP made the referral.

A dr at the community mental health is reviewing my medication i cant wait in the gp's surgery and last time i had a home visit from a dr.I told my cc what ashley said and he said he thinks he can refer me to the centre for anxiety and trauma at maudsley. But he says he has to get my medication right first as it dont seem to be working. The maudsley do home visits from what ashley told me.I did refer myself to iapt but they didnt go ahead with it because i was in a crisis and had just left maudsley.

David, the nature of some of your intrusive thoughts will mean some of your therapy sessions will have to be outside the house and around children so you are going to have to tackle your agoraphobia.

Treatment for OCD involves facing fears and engaging in activities we are normally reluctant to do - it's not about passively talking to a therapist for an hour and getting things off your chest for a bit.

David I'm sorry ur still struggling, agarophobia is a nightmare, in fact u need CBT to be able to combat that in itself! I don't understand why on earth they can't go out to u, especially as ur diagnosed as agarophobic! It doesn't make sense to me. I really hope U get sorted soon, but u must get proactive, get on the phone, speak to ur doctor/care coordinater, get online and search for therapy clinics and ring around and ask if they do home visits and if so can the gp make a referral to that specific therapist! U can do this xx

David you say you aren't getting any help but you ARE from loads of forum users and fellow sufferers. If I get moderated for saying this that's fine but if you have the concentration to post here why can't you use search engines?

While I totally agree David u have had lots of advice and support here, I feel at the moment you are totally overwhelmed and not thinking clearly and in fact barely functioning with your high anxiety levels, maybe this med change will give you the water wings you need to start letting our advice and support sink in and give you the strength to be more proactive in helping yourself, in the meantime is there anything u enjoy doing to relax? Do you read or play video games? A bit of distraction from the thoughts is always good, please be kind to yourself and keep pushing on, you can do it David!xx

Hi David. Maybe I'm missing something but do you think that the cause of your agoraphobia - fear of public places - is due to your intrusive thoughts? I had two home visits from the Centre of Anxiety. They were for the hoarding part of my OCD-hoarding-depression diagnosis.

I think that's right, that may be part of the clinical criteria to have tried certain meds, but it's positive they think they can refer you.  I think it's also right that they didn't send you to an IAPT service because I suspect you need more help than they can perhaps offer. So although things may still be a challenge today, it sounds positive they may be able to help you by getting you to somewhere that can help you with more specialist treatment.
