Hi I'm just wondering if anyone has had transcranial magnetic stimulation treatment?I'm curious about it

I'm not aware of it being available anywhere as a treatment option as yet (just in research facilities.) Have you been told different, amewat?

I read that it was in the nhs in Nottingham and three private companies in London. Never heard of it before and it's non invasive so sounded good

Current is applied to the brain through a magnetic coil Phil. But the point is we don't know what causes OCD or which part of the brain is responsible so it's all guess work on where to apply current. The fact is there is absolutely no evidence that TMS works for OCD.   Also the mention of non invasive,that's true but not risk free of side effects, I believe there are still seizure risks (although I suspect low risk).

Of course I am not trying to be deliberately negative, but the research evidence to support is just not there, and many articles get people's hopes up and I fear it will be a waste of  time, energy and money.

Sounds like another hopeful quick fix for OCD. Others have shown up; all have failed.
