BelAnna
Hi All, I just wondered whether other forum users have problems with emotional regulation (e.g. are more emotional labile and likely to express irritability, anger, sadness etc.) and whether you think that this is related to OCD or just simply learned behaviour (or rather a lack of learning to control emotional expression)? Lynz
This is an interesting question, BelAnna. It could actually be both, but I know from my experience that I tend to be more emotionally unstable when my anxiety/OCD levels are also quite high. When my OCD is bad I'm quick to anger, find others really irritating, I'm more snappy and I cry at things a lot more. When I'm calmer then I don't really have these issues so much. I'd be interested to read what others say. Link to comment
GreyCat
Hi BelAnna, Yes, the same as Lynz wrote, only without the anger. When my anxiety level is extremely high and when I didn't get enough sleep due to the anxiety I cry at really harmless things and what is most annoying in front of others. Link to comment
Avo
I tend to be snappier and shorter tempered when my OCD is causing me problems. I don't cry( to be honest I rarely cry at all) just feel very flustered and overwhelmed often due to ruminating when in the grips of OCD, so any extra pressure or hassle just seems too much to have to deal with at that moment. Sophie89
I get really angry which is not my nature at all. I also get into a massive insecurity attack and think my boyfriend is cheating and lying and doing all bad things and I lash out and tell him. He said I attack him every couple of days. It's really not my character but I'm so drained frustrated angry and add the lack of sleep and permanent high anxiety state that I just flip. I find it hard to cry when I'm anxious but if I do it will be out of pure frustration rather than sadness x Link to comment
