Beginning of Dysmorphia?

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I'm a long-time OCD sufferer, so I always knew about dysmorphia, but never really experienced it. But I think I might be experiencing it now. I'd appreciate your help! (Warning: NFSW talk beyond this point, basically about my penis)

A couple of close friends and I (all male) were talking penis, and I went first and told them my "size" (I'm sorry this is an icky topic hehe). And then they laughed and kept making fun of mine the whole evening. It was infuriating and humiliating. Apparently, their size is in like the 90th percentile – they're unusually large if their self reporting is true and they're not lying. I'm at average. A third to half of the world is basically where I am at. I know I am "normal"

But ever since that incident, I've been feeling so low. I keep thinking about it. They were jerks about it, and made fun of me for two hours. I know that hurts, and is supposed to hurt. But is it normal to doubt myself after, even though all the data I found says I'm fine and all my sexual experience so far has been wonderful for me and my girlfriend? Is this just regular insecurity, or do you think it could be dysmorphia?

This is OCD getting into your head, trying to make you doubt your image, or for you, size. Ignore it and move on. Nothing good will come of succumbing to OCD's rambling thoughts and fears, ignore thinking about this event and just pass it by. Your OCD may make this situation worse but I think it's a bit easy to say, this is a insecurity that has sent shock waves through a lot of guys, so stop looking up the darn statistics over size and let go of it. You say that despite that, you feel fine so guess what, you are fine, get on with your life and have plenty more wonderful experiences *winkface* with your girlfriend.
