  1. Welcome back Polarbear! I'm feeling much better now adays so I'm not coming in here often. I will definately read your book! X
  2. I also wanted to say for the panic attacks that must be truly awful. Keeping your self busy, like work is a good thing. I will go for a swim in a bit cause it works wonders for my anxiety. Hope you feel better soon.
  3. Thanks for sharing Symps. I have suffered from all sorts of Ocd, including the same theme as you. That's all really. Take care.
  4. Hello! I hope you're feeling a bit better now. I also went out yesterday and woke up feeling awful. :-( I forc ed myself to have some porridge with Banana, it did helped a little bit nd now laying in bed with my hot water bottle. I guess what you have to keep in mind I that it's just a chemical reaction from the alcohol and lack of sleep. I understand how you feel cause I rarely get drunk anymore because I always feel so awful the day after. Just grind your teeth and go to work, maybe drink some Camomile tea and tonight you will feel proud that you got through the day. Take care.
  5. Patience patience patience. Camomile tea, excercise, reading uplifting books or watch an uplifting film.
  6. Hi John the first weeks on medication is always horrible for me too. The sleeping problems are the worst. But dont you worry they will get better. There are some nonprescription you can try like Nytol. There are herbal ones but they don't do anything for me so I take the one a night ones. You have to find a way to calm you down and focus on something else, like some kind of excercise, or reading. I also used to drink Camomile tea all through the day and no coffee, and I slept better at night.
  7. Hello Ruykil I can sort of understand what you are saying, cause I am also obsessing and rumination a lot about my on therapy. What is exposure? What is compulsion? If I don't look t this newspaper then it's avoidance etc. I can just give you an example about when I had to make a decision. When I went to my latest assessment for Ocd she gave me two options. One to start a short therapy course within a few weeks, or wait for 5 month for a longer course. I was ruminating the whole day and nigh. The morning after I just decided to make a decision, so I send them an e-mail. This was very anxiety provoking but after I sent this there was no return so I just had to stick to it, and make the best of the situation. You said you are scared to take the wrong therapy and waisting your time. But life doesn't work like that. You have to try things and give it a go before you know if it works. If one doesn't work then try something else. That's what life bis about. The best thing is to make a decision and stick to it however anxious you feel. And it that doesn't work then try something else. Hope you feel better soon.
  8. Good luck! We do need lots of patience with Ocd cause its such an annoying bully.
  9. Hi John. Did you tell your doctor you want to have more children? I didnt know there is a risk for men on SSRI's. I'm on medication and I want children, but they put me on a medication with small risks. I'm sure if you speak to your doctor they can advise you. You should keep taking your medication if this is what you have been prescribed. To not take it some days is going to make you feel worse. Take care.
  10. Hi Runner. Hen I have sleeping problems I drink Camomile tea both during the day and the evening, only one coffee in the morning. Swimming makes me tired so thats something to try. Sometime I take a Nytol if I want to sleep better. Not the herbal one. Just check it doesn't react with your SSRI. Reading a book in the evening is better than watching a film. Hope you sleep better soon.
  11. Me to I think it's a checking compulsions. It doesn't help. All the best.
  12. Hello Kirkby. Yes checking that is definately a compulsions. Remember the medication takes a while to work and the first month it makes you worse even. Keep that in mind when thinking that the rumination and the anxiety isreally high at the moment. It will get better.
  13. Nytol have help me through lots of nights since started with medication again. I know I cannot take it all the time but it definitely helps to stay asleep. Hope you feel better soon.
  14. Hello Rachel I was feeling exactly like you for a month ago. I was 9 weeks into my medication and had some improvement but was still was feeling very ****. I was speaking to my therapist and I was crying and she told me I had to wait for 5 month for therapy. That weekend I remember I told my self. Well there is nothing I can do now. I'm feeling **** by this ocd and I don't get any help. But I'm gonna live my life anyway. And I went out shopping with a friend and then for coffee. It was after this the Ocd started to loose its power. I also upped my meds a bit after this but now I feel that it's manageable. Hope you will feel better soon.
  15. Kirkby I have been trying for several month to stop ruminating. I recon there best thing to do when your ocd is bad is to find some distraction. You have to find what suits you best. For me working was a good distraction, and reading as well. Now my anxiety have come down a lot so I have figured I can more or less tell myself to stop ruminating and it works. Be strong.
