I'm not sure if it is but I've noticed sometimes I could just be sitting or even standing, doing anything and my heart for a couple of secs will beat reall fast (I can really feel it pounding) and then it's fine. Happens quite a bit? I'm not sure if this is anxiety too?

It's only started happening in the last couple months..

I have suffered from palpitations before, and it led to cardiophobia (fear of a heart attack or heart disease). I went to the doctors many, many times about it but was told it was normal and that I'd be fine. I still panic about it occasionally, but only when I'm in certain situations and therefore I realise that it's an irrational fear.

My advice would be to see your GP just to eliminate the possibility that there is something wrong. I found that eliminating caffeine from my diet helped me immensely and would strongly recommend that. Hangovers also made me more sensitive, as did smoking weed; in fact I stopped smoking it because of the panic it elicited. Finally, as my psychologist constantly told me, "you have to live with uncertainty." Good luck.

Focusing on it and obsessing over it is just going to turn this into a full blown obsession. Ignore it.

Although it's almost certainly OCD related, I think it's better to be cautious and visit a GP first.

It's normal. I think we all get it and sometimes just don't notice it. I have that too at times. I've had it my whole life. You can bet that all of the people on here have a fast heart rate because we're all anxious.

Well look at Phili's case. Worrying about her heart and chest has completely taken over her life and she's doing compulsions left right and centre. OCD will trap you no matter what the subject is. Don't go down the same road and just ignore because you don't want a secondary obsession.

I know that, all OCD is the same but I guess pocd is much worse than contamination OCD or whatever. That's my opinion and I'd rather have any other than pocd. I actually mean that.

You tell someone about contamination OCD, they won't really judge you, tell them about pocd and they'll think you're a horrid person (which tbh, I guess I am if what happened last night, did actually happen)

I dunno anymore

Everyone wants a different OCD because the current one feels so bad. When I was younger I had POCD, I can tell you that it is no worse or better than any other. All OCD is the same, the theme is irrelevant.

That's your opinion, Phili and I respect that but I don't agree.

When you say that you diminish everyone elses suffering, also you make yourself worse off by thinking you are worse off than everyone else, suffering is equal my friend, one of the few things that is.

With all respect, whether the P refers to paedophilia, pure, or poodle; as it says on the OCD-UK site, the things which need addressing are the obsessions and compulsions. :)

By the way magnesium regulates your heart rhythm so if you are low on it youll get palps. You can get a blood test or just take a supplement, about $8 for two months supply,
