Help! How do you go about overcoming BDD

Aswell as OCD I also suffer from BDD and recently I'm suffering really bad and need advice on how to go about overcoming it.

So how do you overcome Body Dysmorphic Dosorder.

Is there any literature you can reccomend?

Is it even possible to overcome BDD?

Any advice from sufferers?

there is a good book called overcoming body image problems including body dysmorphic disorder that I found really helpful.Also a lot of people have overcome it with cbt.Are you getting any treatment?

I'm not getting any treatment for it no, It's not as bad as it use to be but I feel I may be relapsing I'm going back into my old ways of mirror checking for long periods of time etc and it's starting to get me down. I'll look for that book though

Definitely try to avoid long mirror checking exposures bit by bit if necessary.Time yourself and aim to reduce the time a little each day.If you're putting make up on then don't look to scrutinize as much as possible but purely use the mirror as a tool for a limited time only.

Sorry I hadn't checked on this part of the forum for a little bit, I still do it now but I manage to pull myself away and just accept I am who I am :-)
