Guest CandyRiver
Hi, i wont bore you all with the extended version so in short, after yet another difficult pregnancy I have a wonderful little boy however am plagued with intrusive thoughts and crashed in a big way. i'm sure hormones are playing a big part in this but feeling like i'm staring in my own horror movies at the moment. I finally plucked up the courage to go and ask for help with the Gp only to be told my telephone assessment is on the 15th sept and if I would like one on treatment i will have to wait at least 3 months. The last time I tried the NHs route I never found the CBT that useful, any suggestion on other things a Pure O like me can try? i have heard of Thrive and used the Mndfullness app but is anyone a member and is it any help. Thanks Link to comment
battlethrough
Mindfullness is wonderfull but it takes time,it in no way cures ocd but it does help with managing it,looking at things in a different perspective and reduceing anxiety, science backs it up Link to comment
Saffie
The Power of Now is a great book by Eckhart Tolle on mindfulness. Ive been told he waiting list for CBT where I am is up to a year if not more. And even then you run the risk of it most likely being a standard CBT therapist not specialised in anxiety disorders. My symptoms are so severe and long lasting they are working on referring me to the Maudsley hospital, which is an intensive inpatient unit that specialises in OCD and anxiety disorder treatment. That's what it going to really help, if anything. But it's hard to get in. There are also mindfulness CD's you can get which might help you. But definitely check out Eckhart Tolles books, they are awesome. Link to comment

Guest Billie
Thanks for the advice and will look in to both... the NHS is shocking! Yes I agree about the NHS, It was recommended that mindfulness would help me by the Psychologist I now have been told that the group he approached will not take me as, it is still the same Health Trust but where I see the Psychologist is 25 miles from ' my area '. It is all about localities. There is not a mindfulness group in ' my ' area, so If I want to do it I will have to pay £250. In North Yorkshire where I live this Trust took over the Mental Health Services, I am still a patient of theirs, regardless of where I see the Psychologist. Link to comment
