OCD took away my childhood,

my smiles and my energy.

OCD took away my teen years,

my social life and experiences.

OCD took away my first love,

my heart and my soul.

OCD took away my self-worth,

my confidence and my beauty.

OCD took away my personality,

my age and my interests.

OCD took away my ability to love another man,

to date and to marry.

However,

OCD did not take away my motivation,

my inner strength to get up every morning.

OCD did not take away my wish to seek help,

my dream to get better.

OCD did not make me commit suicide,

or take away my family and friends.

OCD did not take away my dream of being a teacher,

my dream of finishing university and getting a full-time job.

OCD did not take away my humour,

my love for fashion and my love for others.

OCD did not take away the dream of being a mother,

have kids and a family.

OCD did not take any of this from me.

OCD has taken a lot of things away from me,

but there are still a few things OCD never has managed to take away.

Take that- you little devil!

You may be OCD, but I am Emma and I don't give in to easily.

Nicely said Emma. And it makes all those things we have left and can fight for all that more sweet and we appreciate them more. We value them even more now.

I don't usually enjoy poems on an OCD theme, as many have real negative bias and are "wallows in self-pity".

But this one is good, it shows how if we let it OCD will just consume more and more of our lives ; but if we do take action , we can fight back and recover.

A well-worked, inspirational, piece Emma.

Wow that is a such a fantastic, inspirational and positive poem. If you give us permission I would like to publish that in our next members magazine?

I would love that!! That is great, thank you so much.

Since I live in Norway I do not get the members magazine, I am guessing it is not online here to read either?

Is it possible to get a screen shoot or PDF file on just my poem in the magazine? Would love to keep it as a memory <3

I would also like to edit it abit, just a few words need changing for a better flow. I do not know when you need it by?:) I can resend it to your inbox
