OCD after a blast to the head.

Took a bit of a knock in training tonight. I've had concussion before due to misadventure but this seams to have kicked my OCD into overdrive. Ruminating like crazy, cant stop that panicky feeling, thinking I've hurt people or something awful is about to happen, keep going over conversations in my head... Haven't been this bad in ages :(

Thinking I might stop all this high-octane martial arts and take up something safer, like origami or sewing...hmm, scared of needles...and paper cuts!

Actually, starting to feel better now :)

Just got back from a&e after the pain got too much. Turns out I had bleeding which has led to a perforated eardrum and permanent hearing loss :(

The nurse was a bit of a cow. Pretty much dismissed me for wasting her time after telling me I'll "just have to live with it"...

I can honestly say that my experience with mental health has been far better :)

The only trouble is that I've felt really disorientated this last week, not being able to hear properly. Its making me really anxious and pretty short tempered with people. When I get like this I have fights with people in my head and cant stop. I'm working 200% at the moment so its difficult to find time to relax.

I was born pretty much def but had an operation when I was about 7. My most vivid memory was hearing my foot steps for the first time :) Being a musician, my hearing is really important to me so I wish the nurse was a bit kinder tonight... I guess they see lots of people though so I'm probably taking it to heart a bit too much.

Anyway, I'm being referred to a specialist so hopefully there's something they can do but these things can take ages.

That's horrible, I hope they're able to do something. The disorientation should pass when your brain adjusts to how much sound it can expect from each ear. At the moment it will keep misjudging where sounds are coming from.

Make sure you get plenty of sleep is my only advice, asking for time off work if need be. Sleep and rest is very important after a concussion for the brain to get back to normal.
