Guest Victoria917
I was switched from 100 mg of seroquel to 1 mg of risperdal at the end of july and the risperidal was not doing enough for me. So, on august 25th I was told by my psychiatrist to take 2 mg of risperdal. I feel like a zombie. Risperdal makes me even sleepier than the seroquel does, gives me a stuffy and bloody nose and painful septums, stomachaches, nightmares, feeling distant from everyone else, feeling worried as if something bad is going to happen, worrying about my family and especially my girlfriend, crying unexpectedly, increased ocd symptoms, unwanted thoughts, no appetite, and having anxiety whenever I am by myself. It's giving me separation anxiety. It is the worst I have felt since december, before I started taking seroquel. I miss seroquel a lot, I was switched off of it because my psychiatrist was worried that it was making me too sleepy and not lowering my dopamine enough, but I was only on 100 mg so maybe my dosage was just too low. She said that she knew patients who were on 800 mg. I see her this wednesday and I am so relieved that I get to see her soon. Risperdal is not an SSRI. I take 200 mg of sertraline too, which is an SSRI and works well for me, so I think SSRIs work well with me, considering that seroquel is one too. I just really want to be on seroquel again, maybe at a higher dose this time. Does anyone else have negative experiences with risperdal? I looked up reviews online and apparently feeling like a zombie is common. I really just hope this is the medication and not just me. Link to comment
PolarBear
One thing you need to know about respiradone (genetic name) is that there is a big difference in very small doses of the drug. A jump from 1 MG to 2 MG is huge. Respiradone can be prescribed in quarter milligram doses. Going from 1 to 1.5 MG can have a big effect. Yes, respiradone has many possible side effects. It sounds like your clinician upped the dosage too much, too soon. Link to comment

whitebeam
I believe that Risperdal had very adverse effects on me. I'm sure it caused hyperkinesis - continual movement - I couldn't stand, sit or lie still and also increased mental agitation. I managed to stop this mental and physical agitation by taking an overdose - not to be recommended - but I believe that brought my breakdown which I am sure was imminent - to a halt. If you are suffering, do get in touch with your GP or psychiatrist. Take care whitebeam Link to comment
Guest Victoria917
Thanks, I see her tomorrow! I have had a LOT of mental agitation the past few days, even after I stopped taking them. Link to comment
