Im new here and im not sure if i have ocd. I did a lot of tests online (i know they are not really reliable) but they all came out positive. Im scared to go the docter and get myself tested. What should i do?

Hi amy98,

:welcome:

I don't know what health care is like in the Netherlands, but I would think if you went to your doctor & told them how you felt & that you suspect it is OCD & you feel you need to see a therapist, then they should be happy to refer you.

What exactly is the problem? You don't have to tell me what the thoughts are about, but are they intrusive? ie, thoughts keep popping into your head, maybe about hurting people, yourself, etc... Feeling unclean, contaminated, etc... You can't stop thinking about certain things, no matter how hard you try?

What may be of use to you is having a look at the main OCD UK webpage & the 'What is OCD' bit & the types of OCD.

I'm sure you'll find it all useful :original:

Hi, based on my experience, I really think it's a good idea to check with a doctor. I know it may seem scary, but if it is OCD, it's best to detect it while it's still weak and managable. I myself made the mistake of not going when I first started to worsen. Eventually it worsened until I just had to go to the doctor because it was too much. Sadly, my OCD is very severe, and it's so severe that I can't do the therapy. My doctor has tried out several medicines, until the right combination will help lower my OCD until it is low enough for me to be able to do the therapy. Every day is a struggle and it's very depressing :( In my opinion it's best to detect and fight the OCD while it's still weak, and it will help avoid many problems and complications. Also, you'll recover much faster.

thank you symps07 the pages did help.

yes it is thoughts and images. mostly of hurting others.like when i sit in the bus and look at someone. i get thoughts about ways to kill them. its kinda scary sometimes..... and i just cant stop them from coming.

the unclean feeling is not that big. the only thing i noticed was that after a lot of things (also little tasks) i just have the need to wash my hands. i know its not needed but i just kind of have to.

the last thing i know is that if something is in a certain spot and somebody moves it. i can litterly go crazy and cry till i find it and put back in its place. (not sure if that has to do with ocd. or im just weird).

thank you for sharing this. others experiences are most times the best to hear and learn from

i had some talks with school lately and they are going to 'sent' me to a therapist. not for my meaby ocd, but for other stuff and ill make sure i will ask her some things about it.

it sounds like you already had a lot to deal with. keep fighting!! i think my battle is starting soon. and im getting ready to kick its ass.

got to stay as positive as you can right :)
