She has not been diagnosed with this, but all the signs are there, she has not been out for years. or seen the GP because of the way she says she looks. she has taken pills and is into self harming. I'm at my whit's end. as she keeps saying we would be better off if she was dead. its breaking my heart to see her like this could some one give me some advise.

Hi

I really know very little about BDD, but I do know the dreadful worry when someone is affected by any anxiety disorder and how badly it can affect lives. My son often wishes he wasn't here, so I do know how useless it makes you feel.

Do you think she would let a GP come and see her? How I approach a doctor is 'I know you can't discuss xxxxxxx with me, but I need you to know this ......'

They will usually listen.

Could you give a clue as to how old she is? Does she live by herself?

It's good you are caring about her.

Carol
