Hello ladies and gents,

Well where to start? First of all I should probably say that I don't have OCD. I have joined here because my partner has. Let's start at the beginning, I hear that's normally the best place to start.

Four years ago I got with my beautiful partner, she's every thing I've ever wanted and more. We started dating and everything was fantastic. About two years in the OCD started. Since then we have been learning about it together. What makes her worse, what I can do, and sometimes fail miserably, to help when she's having a bad day. As well as learning to deal with the day to day behaviours and challenges.

That's what brings me here; I try my best to help her in anyway I can. Sometimes I help, sometimes I make it 100 times worse and I'm big enough, fat enough and ugly enough to admit that. After all, I'm not perfect. But I'm here to hopefully learn more and try to better understand what she is going through and hopefully learn to support her better. So if you have any suggestions or places where I can start - let me know.

Sorry if I've babbled, I'm no good at this sort of thing.

Regards,

KoH

Hi KoH, welcome to the forums. There is a forum specifically for Family and Friends of sufferers that you might find helpful in gaining some of the insights you are looking for, and of course the main forum is always a place to go if you are looking for the perspectives of those of us with OCD.

My friends and family have been a huge help for me in my OCD battle, your partner is blessed to have someone who is willing to put in the effort to help her. Thank you for all that you do, even if you feel like sometimes it's not helping, the effort is appreciated.

You might also check out the main OCD-UK site as it has some great resources on OCD, what it is, treatments, etc. there are also a number of good books if that's something you might be interested as well!
