Completely 'new' intrusive thoughts

hi everyone. I've been coming and going about going back on meds because of my pregnancy (I'm 28 weeks now). I'm not really looking for any advice as such - just wanted to let it out........I can't find an actual 'real' woman I can communicate with that took the meds during pregnancy and I think I'm being obsessive about this...........I'm convinced I'll feel better if I could

Talk to another woman who took them and it was all okay........even though 2 psychiatrists have told me its okay.......

My problem at d moment is I'm getting worse. Since Tuesday night I've had a completely 'new' intrusive thought that I feel I can't tell anyone about - maybe because it's so new I'm trying to get my head around it. And a very old thought I got when I was depressed before has made an appearance. That is how I 'know' the time has come for medication. I'm just very scared and sad at d moment......just needed to let it all out......

Hi angrocd,

The important thing is you've recognised the thoughts are intrusive, that's half the battle.......the next step, but the hardest's, trying not to engage with them.....but even if you can hold-off trying to get your 'head around it' ruminating in other words, for a short while, that's a step in the right direction - they won't lose lose their power immediately, but they will fade.

I should think coping with being pregnant's tough going at the best of times, let alone having to cope with all the OCD's throwing at you, but you're not alone, we're all here to help you, but have you also taken a look at Maternal OCD's site? (here's a link).

It might be worth checking them out, not necessarily to ask about medication (if you feel it has become obsessive) but just to have a chat with other's in the same position who know what it's like to cope with pregnancy and OCD.

This really is a cruel disorder isn't it..........but hopefully things will gradually settle down and allow you to enjoy this time in your life, I hope so.
