Guest chaosrules
I've not suffered with an OCD attack in about 4 years. It used to be around HIV but it does morph to other things. I mainly get it now when I have time off from work. I always think I'm in trouble for something when I get back. My latest one is nuts but just can't shake it. I followed a manager on Twitter to keep up to date with things. My Twitter account does not have my pic on it nor is there anything offensive there. In fact it's hardly ever used. When I checked my managers Twitter feed the other day they had blocked me. Didn't think much of it at first but now I can't stop thinking I'm in trouble for something, why did they block me over and over. Is it something more sinister. Now rationally I know why they have done this. To keep their feed professional and didn't know who I was without a pic. (they're one of the big area managers I met at regional meeting just before Xmas)It's a pic of Pete Griffin from Family Guy. My flipping OCD has got a lock on me though. Keeps telling me I'm in trouble when I get back gonna lose job, you know the ultimate worst things that can happen. Not back at work till the 5th Jan thinking of going back earlier. But I don't see why I should I know it's my OCD sending out false Alarms. Drives you mad though just can't shake it?. Just shows it rears its head at any time. I think perhaps it's because of the Xmas period and most people get stressed around Xmas. Maybe it's my stress manifesting itself through OCD. Gonna look into CBT in new year. Link to comment
taurean
Yes I think you have it right. You are mind-reading - making assumptions /exaggerating what people may be thinking. The key thing is to focus away from this; just do your job to the best of your abilities, and remind yourself ot that when you stop for leave or whatever. From my experience in commerce, managers will soon engineer discussion nowadays if they are unhappy with a team member's work - or have issues with them - they are very accountable to their own superiors.
