Guest ironduke
Hello, I am 40 years old and have suffered for 30 years. My OCD has been unmanageable for the last 4 years. My marriage is in tatters, social services are applying to to prevent me having contact with my children, my family are ostracised and i have no friends left! I struglle with taking medication through my illness and therapy is difficult. I'm not here for sympathy but I am at a low ebb and very lonely, so really I'm hoping to speak to others for support and to perhaps understand my issues further. Link to comment

taurean
Hello ironduke. Its such a devastating thing when It gets a grip isn't it. I am struggling myself at the moment, and looking at trying some meds again. . Link to comment
Guest ironduke
I don't know what to make of the meds. Some I've found ok like clonipramine and some terrible like fluoxitine. My main problem is that I don't think it solves the real issue just masks it. Plus I'm quite anti drugs and i have issues about their origins and cleanliness. Therapy really helps but I struggle to committ because of work who are unaware of the level of what is wrong - I hide it because my previous job tried to sack my when they found out. Have woken up to be slagged off and told how evil and selfish I am. Link to comment

My Employer was very supportive and we agreed reasonable adjustments to my job which helped me work around the OCD. Link to comment
Guest ironduke
We do haave protection but they can work round it. Tthey began to pick up on everything I did whether or not it was OCD related and i went from an 18 year unblemished record to 8 disciplinaries in 6 months. I was rejected for a promotion, offered a job for half the money and eventually forced out withe minimum required notice period waived to allow me to leave quicker. Link to comment
