Guest LuckyCat
I have never had a tattoo in my life. But after suffering the worst month plus of my life I was thinking of getting a tasteful tattoo that I will be able to look back on to remember how bad things are/were and make sure it never happens again. Has anyone got any OCD related tattoos or any suggestions on what to have? 'A thought is just a thought' might be a good one.... Anything else? X Edited April 16, 2014 by LuckyCat Link to comment
Guest irretractable
I have this in Greek on my right shoulder, wrapping around my arm: Ecclesiastes 2:11: "Yet when I surveyed all that my hands had done and what I had toiled to achieve, everything was meaningless, a chasing after the wind; nothing was gained under the sun." I didn't actually get it with OCD in mind. But in reflection, I find this verse very freeing. I spend my life looking for meaning in everything. This is a reminder not to do that. A lot of people ask me what my arm says, and then they're like "oh, that's depressing." I'm wondering if anyone else with OCD sees the positive in this? Link to comment

Guest MrsF
Hi, im with Ecomum on this one and going for a wristband. A tattoo is permanent. Once you have beaten your OCD are you really going to want a reminder of it inked on? x Link to comment

You must have a massive right shoulder Irretractable?! (totally joking) I think that is ridiculously appropriate for OCD, and for life. But I understand why people look on it as bleak, unless maybe they're buddhists or hindus. It goes against the industrial 9 to 5 mindset somewhat doesn't it. I love it though. Hey L - I haven't got any great tattoo ideas - how about something like "Trust your heart" or "No more jousting windmills xx/xx/xx" where xx/xx/xx is the date - the windmills reference is from Don Quixote who reminds me of an OCD sufferer because he imagined he'd got to joust windmills due to some kind of mental illness. His buddy Sancho totally enabled him as well. Link to comment

I'm glad you see the appropriateness! Link to comment
Guest Emarbe
I have 3 tattoo's my first I had done was in memory of my grandadds, the 2nd is a dragon/geisha all in one, I had the outline done, and then it took me about a year and half to get the whole thing done! - I was worried that I wouldn't like it coloured, I have the outline done for my half sleeve going through the same phase.
