I'm about to start university and I'm terrified! I see so much potential for my OCD to be really hard to cope with but I'm determined to not let it ruin my time.

Anyone in the same boat? Does anybody have any university tips for OCD sufferers?

I think its important to make them aware (the uni) of your ocd as they can make adjustments for you to accomodate it

and that applies to work and exams to

ive seen many people on here go to uni with ocd and come out with a fantastic result at the end

what help have you had for your ocd ?

im sure others will offer good advice to

Hi Lilah,

Congratulations on going University! My time at Uni was life changing and I'm still best friends with the people I met and lived with while I was there.

I had some problems with OCD while I was there but the main reason was that I didn't know what was happening or why I felt that way. The huge difference for you is that you are aware of your OCD already and as legend says you can make others aware, build support and work through it if you need to using your awareness and experience.

OCD was a part of my 3 years at Uni, but they're not the memories I remember and I still got through, achieved my degree and most importantly still have the life lessons and friendships that I gained there.

I wish you all the best!

Thank you both for your replies. I've had CBT for my OCD but find new situations so difficult still. I'm scared also that I will be homesick and lonely which won't help the anxiety.

You are right though, I know the signs, I just need to try hard to fight it.

Living with a roommate can be hard if they don't accomedate to your OCD. I know that they cannot be expected to do this, but it absolutely is hard!!
