Missing CBT ?

Hi All,

I'm a new member and wanted to introduce myself and ask a question.

Has anyone been through CBT and missed the experience after the course concluded ?

Fully appreciate the core aim of the sessions was to start my journey and leave me with the tools I needed to "do it myself". It was such a relief to give a name to what had by this time been with me for over 25 years.

That was back in August and my CBT has concluded a couple of weeks ago.

When I walked out at the end of the last session I felt like I was heading in the right direction and had the tools I needed to work it through

I've had the envitable relapse at the moment but still feel positive I can pull myself up and go for it again.

What I do miss is the one on one conversation which for me is something I found really hard to open up about but by the end enjoyed.

What have others felt post CBT , eventual lull in progress one we launch solo on the journey or more positive success ?

I go to a private therapist, so can't fully relate, but I noticed that when I have a long break between sessions it - not always, but often - gets worse for me, at least initially. Then again, sometimes it gets worse for no reason at all. I think it's just the nature of the beast, really - there can be some reason, but there as well doesn't have to be any. Currently I've been worse for a month or two, but before that I had almost a half a year when my OCD was more of a nuisance than anything else. I also feel like the longer these periods are, the more intense the relapses.

My point is, it's completely normal to feel worse. But it's important to acknowledge it and then do something about it. "It’s not how many times you fall that matters but how many times you get back up."
