ACE
My BDD is definitely much better than it was& maybe ever has been, but really I'm struggling quite a fair bit due mostly to my Nose&teeth more than anything else. Then there are of course other body parts,I avoid the mirror as much as i can as it just causes too much distress.I won't obviously go too in detail of how severe my BDD does affect me as I'm sure you guys can imagine . Guest IndigoRose
I have the same thing at the moment. My nose and skin is causing me so much stress I've picked all my skin so much. It's really hard to stop once you start obsessing but I find breathing techniques helpful as they calm me down a lot and help reduce my anxiety. Remember what you are feeling isn't reality it is the BDD. I find that very hard to accept but I think fully accepting it is the only way to recover. Hope you feel better soon! Xx Link to comment

taurean
I have a friend with anorexia nervosa. We all could see just a waif of a girl with bones sticking out. When she looked in the mirror all she could see was someone too fat. Only when she got working with her therapist and began to believe did recovery begin. BDD Is another very nasty form of OCD - but still all about false messages. I have a profusion on my forehead - a little lump in the same place as my uncle had one. It has never caused me any concern and no-one felt it blemished my "beauty" . There is the rational non-BDD response. With BDD I'd have felt everyone was looking at it, and all sorts I guess. So folks i am immensely sympathetic - keep fighting on. Link to comment
