Guest biffnon
by my GP. I got a letter today confirming my first appointment in which they said it will "be an assessment of my needs" and last for approximately 90 minutes. I understand that this is probably a positive step rather than a negative one but as somebody who fears the development of severe mental illnesses, I'm naturally worried that it won't just be anxiety. How was your first psychiatric appointment? Link to comment
PolarBear
Relax. Going to a psychiatrist is not going to make you develop a mental illness. You're going there to get assessed for what you have right now. Be honest and tell him/her everything. The more open you are the better. Link to comment
Guest imalright
I was referred by GP - not to a psychiatrist (I wish I had been because I'd love the opportunity for a psychiatric assessment!) but to the usual CBT and EMDR therapy. It was so positive and very 'practical' - i.e 'let's see what's up and how we can fix it!' )) This is great news for you! Link to comment
