Guest DOA623
Hello there. I am a 13 year old girl and I believe I have OCD. I have most of the symptoms. I have what people call "Pure O." Except it's not pure but I call it Mostly O. I have really bad intrusive thoughts, mainly about someone getting hurt or me accidentally or purposefully hurting someone. I also have to check things often such as light switches, door handles, the like. Contamination isn't a huge problem. Mental contamination is pretty big. I'm always afraid that I have every single mental or personality disorder (which is partly why I'm doubting myself). I also have a really big hoarding problem. I feel like someone's feelings will be hurt if I throw away that birthday card they gave me 3 years ago. I also feel like I might need some of the stuff I own. I have more but this is really long already so if you have questions, just ask. P.S. I've heard that there is a type of OCD that makes you obsessed with grammar and spelling. I feel like if it's true I may have this type too. And I mentioned how I feel like I have every mental disorder and such. I am also very sure that I have Depression and Generalized Anxiety. ~Liz Link to comment
Guest DOA623
Also I wrote this whole thing in an English accent even though I'm American. I know that's not relevant but is that weird? Link to comment
Guest LauraMac
You certainly have matching symptoms of OCD, I'm not a dr of course so the next step would be to make yourself an appointment to see a dr and talk about your symptoms. Link to comment
Guest DOA623
Hi LauraMac. Thank you for the reply. I guess I'm just really afraid to tell my parents about it. I'll try and build up the courage to tell them. Thank you! ~Liz Link to comment
Guest chitownkid
I would see your Dr. It sounds like OCD. Almost textbook in a sense. If you are diagnosed with it, it is ok. There is a ton of support here on this site and all over the country for OCD. There is a ton of help but you have to make the first move by getting an assessment. Telling your parents is key. They don't need to understand it, they just need to know you are going through some issues and you want help. Let the Drs tell them what the real deal is. Please post your updates. And please....tell your parents. don't be scared. Link to comment
Guest DOA623
Chitownkid- Thank you for the advice. I'll tell them in August most likely because I'm going on vacation with my grandparents for a month an I have to babysit my sister up until then. I'll keep you updated as soon as I tell them. ~Liz Link to comment
Guest Daisy_88
I couldn't say if you have OCD, seen as i'm not a doctor. But what I do know is, everybody with OCD has their own version of it. My OCD makes absolutely no sense to another OCD sufferer I know. Good luck.. and yeah tell your parents.. First step! Link to comment
