Perfectionism and Update

Hey everyone,

Hope you're all well! I just wanted to make this thread because my OCD is 70% better. I've noticed that the only thing left that I'm doing OCD wise is trying to be perfect. Everything has to be perfect- I'm not allowed to drop anything on the floor etc. I've managed to get rid of the compulsions that come with it- I guess now I just need to realise it's okay to be me.

Any help guys? Think I've done well to break the rituals I do without accepting I can't be perfect.

Purposefully drop things on the floor. Then work hard not to perform any compulsions. If there's anything else you need to 'perfect' at, break those rules too. Tell yourself it's okay to make mistakes.

I just want to give you a huge high-five through the screen because oh my Lord, do I get the perfectionism. Hang in there. We were never made to be perfect. :)

Seriously, I have noticed perfectionism creeping into my wife's behaviour. I point it out to her when she does it, and how she might do differently.

Remember folks, even the wisest people will likely only achieve being right 85% of the time - and the world manages pretty well on that.

We don't have to write a letter on the most extensive paper in order to receive a favourable response.

And a perfectly good-looking new business proposition document will win the business if the product and price and person presenting is also appropriate - the report does NOT have to be the best report that could possibly be written.

So you see, OCD insisting on perfectionism is just another OCD lie.
