Guest Peony
Hi all I've posted this on the general forum but I'm not sure how to transfer it to this one. Anyway, I'm a mental health professional working in NHS commissioning which makes it very difficult for me to access treatment in my area. I know that we can ask for private treatment and I can ask to be a hidden patient because of this. I just need to understand better what is out there for me to access, can anyone help me? Thanks Peony x Link to comment
Caramoole
Hi Peony, I've no idea how referral works if you're an NHS employee. Do you have details in your contract of what approach you should take...i.e do you have to approach a Senior or Occupational Health or do you approach your GP direct? In seeking private treatment you should find a therapist via the BABCP register http://www.babcp.com/Default.aspx Link to comment
Ashley
In seeking private treatment you should find a therapist via the BABCP register http://www.babcp.com/Default.aspx Shoot me a message Peony and I will happily give you some names. To be honest, the BABCP is a good guideline for finding generic CBT therapists, but I do like to remind people that accreditation to the BABCP only means they have to attend x hours of workshops a year, with no exam to pass to reflect knowledge. Most of the OCD specialists I work with that are private actually don't register with the BABCP, but actually run the workshops most accredited BABCP therapists attend. Link to comment
