Hi friends I'm kinda in a strange place. Instead of giving a worry time, I'm not ruminating on it. However its still on my mind and I want it to go. The worry well of course fills me with fear. It was something from the past again. I want to label it as ocd and not care about it!!

do prayers have a part in not recovering in sense using lordship for help etc ?? not a dig a generalised question .

I think I feel my spirituality reminds me of who I really am.

Re the spirituality question a specific passage repetition became one of my rituals and is now a tell tale sign if a flare up if I start saying "The Lord is my shepherd" so my therapist said that in times of flare up I have to say "it's not me it's the OCD" instead. Religion can be a comfort but prayers can form OCD attachment in some people. It's something to be aware of I think

Like everything OCD related, its not spirituality that is the problem but the use of it. Just as the use of CBT can also be a problem - depending on how you use it, e.g. if you use it for reassurance.

Music is a great way to wind down, but what if you use it to drown out those fearful noises that petrify you that need exposing to?

Asking God to rid you of OCD is for me not the way to go from an OCD perspective, however, its also not the way to go from my own religious perspective either. Others may disagree with everything I have just said!

Not repitivley though as it becomes another compulsion

I'm walking round like my old self but a nag in my brain says I've done bad, I'm bad. I don't like it!! I want it to go away and feel good. Is that so much to ask? X

Remember patience and persistence Nikki, make them your companions.

You will get there but it takes time!

Remember you have to expect those thoughts, but not connect with them. just keep doing it.

And what then tho? I mean obviously something that happened is playing on my mind now.

Well you must of course carry on with the homework and practices set by your therapist, so make sure you are doing those.

Aside from that, don't engage with it. That is what we have to do - not just you, all of us, when these thoughts come calling. I am engaged on a therapy process of exposure and otherwise detachment distraction and mindfulness myself, so I am doing this too.

You need to refocus your attention away from it and onto something else, and keep doing that if the thought returns.Plan the rest of your day so as to give you meaningful enjoyable things to occupy yourself.

What advice would you offer Nikki?

Oh Legend I know you would say treat it as ocd probably? My problem is I'm scared to leave it go if I'm guilty of something.

You know whats weird I used to accept oh 'it's ocd' before. Now I'm confused how to do that, understand that and implement it. I honestly could do with help on that. The thoughts/ actions thing confuses me too. How can they be the same? X

Anyone

 Nope

The doubts and reassurance are creeping back Nikki. This often happens, we see the therapist, feel geared up and ready to go but unrealistically expect it to stop or at least keep improving. When it doesn't we start to let the old behaviours creep back.

Stay on track. Think back to your appointment and keep going the way you've done this week
