Guest Johhny2Stripes
I have only recently sought help for my BDD as circumstances have made it almost unbearable. I have been a sufferer for around 15 years mainly even though some signs were there as young as 12 years old. I have a head wound which I have had to keep covered just so I can do day to day things which still is very limited as to what I can and can't do ie. work, weddings, funerals, socialising, dentistry, going out, you name it I have avoided it. The local Jobcentre made me feeling worthless and it was all getting to much for me as i couldn't explain my problems due to not wanting them to know and personally knowing people at the jobcentre so I signed from JSA to ESA. ESA is exactly the same money and I am having to send off doctors notes nearly every month. I'm not sure if I should be on ESA or some other benefit as I've never had to do this whole process before. I have seen 3 specialists, 1 for mindfulness, 1 for cbt, 1 psychiatrist who confirmed my BDD who offered me medication or more talking therapy or both. I need to know is ESA what benefit BDD sufferers should be claiming or something else? thank you Link to comment
lovid
Hi Johhny.I'm not really an expert with the benefit schemes but I was interested how you are getting on.Are you having therapy at the moment.I found CBT to be the most effective. The psychological therapies didn't seem to have any effect. How are you coping at the moment?
