Hello,

I've suffered with BDD my entire life and its got bad, to the point were i cannot control it and it makes me hate myself more.

Its ruined my 8 year relationship, i'm currently at counselling but its not working, i have been 2 times before this.

I can't see a light at the end of the tunnel i don't think i'm ever going to be able to overcome it.

Can or will anyone be able to help me?

Hi Rach,

Welcome to the forum :original:

You mustn't beat yourself up for struggling, BDD's a vicious, difficult and exhausting condition to live with, please don't hate yourself.....it might not feel like it at the moment, but there is hope and light at the end of the tunnel.

I mainly have problems with OCD but have also been diagnosed with BDD, as with OCD a huge part of making headway with BDD comes down to finding the right treatment and person to talk to..........you mentioned you've seen counsellor's in the past and are seeing one at the moment, do you know if they specialise in treating BDD with Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)?

That's the therapy for treating the disorder, maybe alongside an antidepressant medication.....there are also specialist hospitals (the Maudsley and Springfield) that offer more intensive specialist care, they would also be an option if you've accessed CBT and don't feel it's helped.

Please though, don't give up hope, there are still options out there to help you through this, genuinely.
