Guest danielwilling
Hi, I have lived with OCD for 20 years or so (I'm in my 50's), and when I was first diagnosed I had cbt therapy which was very helpful. Since then I have opted to try to manage on my own, but with the arrival of a reasonably new obsession things have become extremely difficult, verging on intolerable, and I think I need some professional help. So I was wondering if it's okay/appropriate to ask here if anybody could recommend a therapist in North or Central London? If it's relevant my obsession is not about my health but that of others, i.e that if I don't clean enough I'll endanger others. Many thanks for any suggestions, Daniel Link to comment
Ashley
Hi Daniel, Finding skilled OCD specialists that work privately is not easy, because there are so few so you may need to be prepared to travel. I would never recommend choosing an OCD specialist because they are close to you, the key is finding the 'right' therapist. Actually the only therapists that we recommend privately are all London based, but some are South East based. I would recommend the following (not in any order). Dr Lauren Callaghan, East London - http://www.themindworks.co.uk/ Dr Elizabeth Forrester, Petts Wood - http://dreforrester.co.uk/ Dr David Veale, Priory Southgate Link to comment
gingerbreadgirl
Hi Ashley (and Daniel) Sorry to hijack this thread - but do you know if any of the London-based therapists mentioned above do appointments via Skype? Link to comment
Guest danielwilling
Thanks, Ashley. That's very helpful, I think I'd seen a couple of those names on a list on the internet somewhere, but a recommendation makes a big difference. Good luck in finding some Skype help, gingerbreadgirl. Hi gingerbreadgirl, I noticed that Dr David Veale mentioned above talks about Skype on his website. Link to comment

Ashley
Oops sorry just seen this myself too. Liz does Skype therapy GBG, but I think she likes to meet patients first time face-to-face. I am not sure if Lauren does Skype or not, I think she does if memory serves. Liz is a nice lady, if you come to the conference in Nottingham she will be speaking there so you can met her and evaluate if she is the 'right' therapist for you there. Link to comment
