National 2013/14 IAPT Report

Recommended Posts

A really interesting report about IAPT services in 2013/14 broken down into both location and diagnosis reports.

http://www.hscic.gov.uk/catalogue/PUB14899

The Excel spreadsheet is of most significant interest for people with OCD. Much of the reports are based off how people complete the endless amount of questionnaires given, so I am not totally sure I trust the 'recovery reports'.

Interestingly, out of all the diagnosis, people with OCD have the lowest rate of entering IAPT treatment within 28 days at 54%, compared to other disorders where 67-72% of people enter treatment within 28 days. (tables 3s-3b)

Tables also show that 875 people with OCD were sent for counselling, although hard to say if specific or in error, 42k correctly sent for CBT.

Table 1b shows IAPT referrals received per region, and across the board there seems to be a huge difference in how many people enter treatment, in some regions 50% difference.

Recovery rates for OCD on table 13 of interest too. NHS Durham Dales, Easington and Sedgefield, NHS Corby CCG, NHS Nottingham West, NHS Dartford, Gravesham and Swanley, NHS Somerset CCG's all show 100% (This seems unusual, need to check this), but after that:

Top 5

NHS Havering CCG - 80%

NHS Erewash CCG - 80%

NHS Ealing, NHS Enfield and NHS Bolton CCG - 75%

NHS Sunderland CCG - 71%

NHS Gateshead CCG - 70.5%

Huge variant in quality and recovery rates.

Bottom 5

NHS South Tees, NHS St Helens, NHS West Lancashire, NHS Bradford City, NHS Lincolnshire East, NHS Rushcliffe, NHS Birmingham Cross city , NHS West Kent - 25%

NHS Birmingham South and Central CCG, NHS City and Hackney CCG - 20%

NHS Scarborough and Ryedale, NHS Medway CCG - 16.7%

NHS Mansfield and Ashfield CCG - 11.1%

NHS Bradford Districts CCG - 6.3%

Interesting reading with some follow up in some areas needed.

Ashley.
