New NHS waiting time standards for Mental Health

Oops. I remember reading this a couple of weeks ago...

From 1 April 2015 (to be fully implemented by April 2016), the new waiting time standards will be as follows:

  • 75% of people referred for talking therapies for treatment of common mental health problems like depression and anxiety will start their treatment within 6 weeks and 95% will start within 18 weeks

What's interesting is the IAPT Stats for 2013/2014 show on average 89% seen within 90days (~12/13 weeks) so maybe it's more about trying to bring the trusts that are flagging up to standard.

Extra Note: My local trust had 72% seen within 90days, and the 28days percentage is 31% so I guess the worse trusts will see some of the money to try and improve the times.
