Guest 11GTHoward
Hi I am a 15 year old boy currently living in Devon and I've been suffering with intrusive thoughts about hurting people and I keep creating graphic pictures in my head that upset me I have had these sort of thoughts before but just shrugged them off and not worried but now for some reason they keep staying with me, I have spoke to my parents and we have brought it down to the fact that we don't enjoy the place we live, I am from the North and moved down here last year and up North I used to love it, I was constantly going out with friends, watching the football and having a great time but everything changed when I moved here cause nobody is interested in doing that stuff down here so I'm constantly finding myself alone, I haven't played out in over a year so I think that I'm just spending to much time with myself and overthinking, I also don't enjoy living here and my whole family have been really stressed about work/school and the passing of my auntie about 2 months ago we went back up north the day she passed and I was so happy being round family and being home that when I got back down here I was really upset cause I wanted to stay up north, this is when the thoughts started to linger, We then went back up north for the funeral and I was fine again, I had lost interest in the thoughts and just focused on being back with family and celebrating my aunties life, Speaking to my parents they think that it's a mix of me spending to much time with myself and being really stressed about everthing at the moment. Thankfully we are moving back to Lancashire so I will be able to go out more and spend less time on my own so I'm hoping the thoughts will stop Id appreciate any replies on what you all think about my thoughts Thanks for reading Tom Link to comment
PolarBear
Welcome to the forum, Tom If your thoughts are being caused by OCD, and they do seem like OCD intrusive thoughts, then you were going to get the thoughts anyway. The thing is you went through a stressful time with moving, loss of friends, loss of things to do and the loss of your aunt, and we do know that stress makes OCD worse. So it's no wonder you're problem started after the move and everything. It is possible that things will get better when you move again. It is unlikely the thoughts will completely go away. OCD tends to get worse over time and you should be prepared for that. Are you seeing anyone about your thoughts? Have you been diagnosed with OCD? Link to comment
Handy
Thoughts in an OCD brain are caused by an alteration of the prefrontal cortex. It actually lights up like crazy during an MRI. Link to comment
