Guest Nitai
Happy Easter Everybody, I'm on a waiting list with KCA new thoughts Surrey with NHS, had an initial telephone consulation back in February and was told im on the waiting list. Read the horror story on the other forum about the person waiting over a year. Anybody been to KCA new thoughts Surrey - how was your treatment and how long did you wait? Thanks Nitai Link to comment
carolj
Unfortunately waiting list for CBT can be long and that where self-help books come into their own whilst you are on the list. I must admit I knew nothing about New Thoughts and stumbled across this, Im not sure if you have seen it http://www.surreyhealth.nhs.uk/dcp/Documents/D1.3ga%20IAPT.pdf You were told you are on a waiting list I think now, in April, you have every right to contact them and find out how much longer. Its great to have these stratagies in place, but only if they are followed through. Sometimes you have to keep pressure on the services to see you. Good luck Carol Link to comment
Guest Nitai
Hi Carol :original: Thank you very much for the advice - i emailed them last week but they didn’t respond lol. Will call them tomorrow and see what is going on and post back. Im doing the Four steps now and its going pretty well, plus i read Imp of the mind but for me Brain lock seems to be the easiest for me to follow. Thanks again for your reply, i was thinking i wouldn’t get any in this forum as doesn’t seem to be used like the main forum. Wishing you a great day Nitai. Link to comment
carolj
We do try and keep our eyes open and not miss anyone, but unfortunately a few posts do fall through the net! Definitely keep on at them, but good for you for using the books too. Let us know when you get a date. Carol Link to comment

carolj
Put 2 months in your diary and ring them again. Make sure you keep climbing the list. Im a great believer that the ones who make the most noise get seen first! Carol Link to comment
Guest Mac999
Hi there, I was waiting 18 months and after writing a complaint of breech of duty of care to kc new thoughts I was seen with in 2 weeks. What a joke of a company was seen 3 times and was told sorry you have been left to long I can't treat you. I am now in the long process of taking this unworthy complany to court. Link to comment
Ashley
Hi Mac and Nitai, If you both still need access to treatment please let me know, will try and help if I can. I am afraid this whole IAPT policy of putting the services out to tender (by Labour) to private providers should be used as an example to Mr Cameron and Lansley that if they sell off the NHS, services don't improve, companies put in cheap tenders to win the contract, and then fail to deliver on the service and the patients suffer. Happy to try and help you through the contact I made with the other lady I helped earlier in the year. Ashley. Link to comment
Guest Professionalocdsufferer
Hello all, I too am on a waiting list to be seen by New Thoughts in Surrey! I called them today and the recipient of my call was very reluctant to tell me how much longer I would have to wait. When I pushed, she said it is unlikely to be before end if February and I'm sure in reality it will be much longer! To be honest though, I'm not prepared to wait for a service whom I don't think will be able to help me anyway (as you say Ashley, I don't feel they are the best people to help people with OCD). The psychiatrist who referred me confirmed that none of the therapists are OCD specialists. I have already had CBT and am not prepared to be disappointed by yet another so called expert who knows little about OCD. (Sorry to sound so negative but I have had shocking 'help' on the NHS!) I am therefore in the throws of trying to get a referral to the specialist centres (maudsley and Springfield) under the government scheme. Thank you Ashley for trying to help people like me. As you say charities now have had to become advocates for their members. I seem to do this daily in my professional life as I also work for a charity-it seems to be more of a fight with the statutory services nowadays! ? Link to comment
