(sorry for my bad english). Anti-social does not equal stupid. Not at all. Well they're not friends then if they speak badly of you. Lose them. 2 good friends is *much* better than a wealth of bad ones. Perhaps your OCD has latched onto this "stupid" theme from some name-calling or judgement somewhere along the line, but from your test scores it sounds like your fears are completely unfounded. So I suppose you have to treat this like any other OCD obsession. Where are you, Greece? Is there any CBT available there? David. With friends like that, who needs ... friends!? Well there's your answer then hopefully. I suppose the solution will be to stop engaging with the doubts until it dies away. Easier said than done though eh? Link to comment

Guest Sisyphus
Its really difficult to stop engaging with the doubts but i try (my english are really bad sorry) I know my friend. I am currently going through this process myself. I don't think many people can just stop engaging with them. I think it is a game of percentages. i.e. you try and stop engaging with it as much as you can as many times as you can. And once you get to the point where you are not engaging with the thoughts more often than you are engaing with them, then you are starting to turn it around. Every little victory helps. So you have nothing to lose trying Link to comment

Yes, alas, depression is an inevitable consequence of OCD I think. It is not easy. But hopefully it is perfectly possible, as others have demonstrated. How old are you - 20? Link to comment

I tried dealing with it on my own, went to the doctors a few times but only actually discovered I had OCD when I was 41. The doctors missed it. So it's hard for me to come to terms with all that time lost suffering blindly, no idea what was wrong or how to fight it, trying to master it with the power of my mind, but not realising that I was making it all worse and worse. So look on the bright side - at least you have found out that you have OCD at a young age, and there are good books and therapies available out there to work with. Maybe that makes it look better? You had ocd so many years and you dont knew that, its worst! Do you want to tell some of your obsessions? OK well I just thought it might put it in a more optimistic light for you. But knowing something happened to someone else can't always have that effect even if we want it to. We can only, after all, deal with our own problems. Sure, my obsessions are mainly rumination about inrusive thoughts - some around conflict, word associations, the separateness of things/people, paedophilia(or anything-o-philia that I am not into!), harm, who is right and wrong, losing loved ones. That's all I can think of right now but I'm sure I've missed something major - my head isn't really in the right place though. How about you? Do you have any other themes you wish to mention? We are all OCD-ers, everybody equally the same! It's all about who could find the switch earlier. I want to tell you that you have no problem to recover! Everybody can find himself back!Btw, why would you go for Greece? I would go for Finland. Greetings to DarthVader94. Link to comment
Guest OCDChineseFighter
A piece of advice from the book "break free from OCD": "If you constantly telling yourself stupid or doing compulsions, the overall effect of this will be that you will feel worse about yourself. This is likely to make the OCD seen more powerful. if you take a more understanding and supportive approach to your problems, it may be that this will help you make progress." Link to comment

What I meant is that we all have the same battle needs to be fought. I did not want to stress people out. My intention is to walk everybody together and face this OCD together so no one feels lagged. : ) Link to comment
