  1. Just heard on the radio what sounded like an NHS advert offering help for obsessive compulsive thoughts urging people to seek help from a GP for help.

That will be good if that was the case. The only advert I have ever heard was for a commercial MAC drug company recruiting patients for an OCD drug trial (that seems to be failing).

  2. Does anybody else get fed up with typing their email address into every site they log onto? I reckon I type it out 30 or more times every day!!

Not as much as I hate accepting huge cookie boxes on every single site.

  3. Dear forum friends, tomorrow marks a year that I have gone without OCD causing me problems.

So I know  it can be done, if we work on not giving belief to intrusions, phasing out compulsions, and keeping up activities that take time and opportunity away from OCD.

When we work hard to achieve this, the results should come. There will be challenges along the way, it's not easy, but - as I have found- it can be done.

  5. I discovered this week I have a niece that is old enough to have a job.. how did that happen! I should not be old enough to have a niece that is old enough to have a job.

Edit: I did know I had a niece, the realisation she is old enough for a job was the discovery.

  8. Merry Christmas everyone! Hope we all manage to have a nice day in this strangest of years

  9. Hello my name is Imogen and I am 58 years old. I have suffered with ocd for over 38 years. Sometimes I have no intrusive thoughts at all and other times they have been over welling. Most of the time I cope very well but this COVID 19 period has been challenging. I know I will get better again and keep on fighting. That is the only way we will get better

Hi Imogen, welcome to the forums. :)   Great message to keep on fighting!

  10.  Received an email from Amazon Smile to say £80 was raised for OCD-UK this quarter by people shopping on the site. So make sure you're shopping at Amazon Smile (not just Amazon UK) and choose OCD-UK as your chosen charity. No extra cost to you and it's the same shop!

  11. Why oh why did I procrastinate on getting a haircut prior to lockdown?

Ha, I did have the same thought a couple of weeks ago GBG, should I go and get my number 3 all over or wait.. I waited and now it's getting way too bushy for my liking, I have to do things like comb it in a morning now. :D

My dad made this point last night. It is, but I guess we just have to minimise risk as much as we can and try and avoid people as much as we can in there.

Yeah better thanks, the drugs seem to be working *touch wood*, I laid down on my bed without any real coughing last night and dropped off for a good 7 hours.  I am still coughing when I wake up for a hour, but nothing too aggressive.

Yeah went to GP twice, last week's said I had to wait it out, but still no better Tuesday so went back, the second GP suggested Bronchitis and given me some anti-biotics which touch wood seem to be working, I am getting sleep now (once initial coughing stops).

Think yourself lucky you have heating to turn off GBG, my central heating's packed up again for second time in the month two days ago... Brrrrr

  18. When you find a spider in a hard to reach place and have no choice but to burn the house down and emigrate :D

    1. Ashley

      Ashley

Leave them fire burner, spiders are fab (apart from dangerous ones). I'm currently still plagued by tinier and even more annoying unidentified crawling things on walls near front door.

  19. Has encountered about twenty million spiders in the last three days.

Living in the country I get loads of spiders and I don't mind them at all, I usually let them roam around. But I hate tiny insects and on the wall near my door I have lots of tiny ones crawling on the inside wall around front door when hot like yesterday. Urrgghghh

  20. Riding 100 miles for the charity this weekend on Sunday on the old Olympic road race route. Starts at Olympic Park > central London > Surrey Hills > Wimbledon > Finish in front of Buckingham Palace.

Thank you everyone for sponsoring.  I did it, it was challenging but 95 mile course (a hill was closed due to accident shortening to 95 from 100) but getting to and from start/finish line I did about 110 miles cycling on the day.    I did it in a time of 7hr 40 which is slow, but I had to stop 7 times to get water/pee so that added at least 5 minutes per stop and a few bottlenecks and accidents meant we were held at times so I lost at least 20-30 minutes there.  My target is to get under 7 hours next year.  Will post about an OCD issue later.

  23. Why is it that when I right OCD UK into Google search the Linden method comes to the top of the page now instead ?

    1. Ashley

      Ashley

If it was the advertising post then they are budgeted to so much a day, so when it's clicked enough times its budget gets used up and it disappears for the day.  Of course, clicking it costs Linden money... not that I would do that :D

      Ashley

It doesn't when I enter it.   Linden is a master of marketing so he's most likely paid the google ads to get his post appear using that search term. I assume that's what you saw?
