  1. I was very pleased to note that there was a session on mindfulness at the OCD-UK conference.

Just to clarify, I did all my mindfulness training some time ago. Now I seem able to gently slip into it - and it is really great because, in a true state of mindfulness, that part of our mind (the active "doing" part) where we obsess compulse and worry is left behind, and we have gently shifted into the benign "just being" part.

When I first sought to do this I had to find a mindfulness portal to step through. Now I seem to simply ease into mindfulness.

Thanks Roy :) sorry if I am being dense, but what do you get out of being in that 'being' state that you wouldn't get out of an enjoyable and engaging activity?

Well when I was struggling with worries other issues or repeating thoughts I could be engaged on an enjoyable activity, but my brain was still trying to resolve issues, or tied up in mental chatter.

In the mindfulness state I don't experience that background noise. The mind is solely interested in what I am seeing doing or listening to - nothing else.

So no stress or anxiety, just calm and relaxation. Total focus on the matter in hand and nothing else.
