Common sense is prevailing and I will make that donation soon. This charity achieves so much and donations make a big difference.

£75 just donated towards the cost of the charity providing these wonderful forums free-to-air to help sufferers and others affected by OCD :)

Used car to drive to supermarket and I sat while my wife whizzed round.

I have faithfully followed doctor's treatment treatment and it's been a sporting afternoon, following Northampton Saints rugby and Northampton Town football Live on BBC radio Northampton, then England v Italy Rugby on TV.

Back to bed again soon for more local gel treatment plus codeine and paracetamol, and some soothing classical music.

Feeling much more comfortable tonight, medication is working and inflammation reducing.

Slow progress, but making progress and that's good.

Pain is localising and does ease a lot when I take the medication. I think there was before some "referred pain" along the sciatic nerve which made things a whole lot worse.

  4. Difficult to sleep, pain in both knees, too much walking yesterday.

Amazingly, and helpfully, a course of Nurofen yesterday set my knees back to rights.

The gel didn't do the business, the capsules did ?

  5. Be wary of Storm Freya folks - very strong winds and rain likely.

  6. Made trip down to Bloomsbury for British Museum and nearby reunion lunch. Fabulous.

Great. Glad you had a good time. I am going to London soon to the science museum and places like that. Hope to grab a falafel wrap in Soho.

The museums are great, though they do somewhat coerce you into making sure you make a donation as you are channelled through what would otherwise be a pay booth.

At the British Museum security was very tight with a reasonable wait to go through a temporary security building and have our bags scrutinised. No suitcases, no sharp items and no flammable liquids allowed there.

That’s good to know Roy thanks - all I will take is a little bit of cash and my debit card.

  7. That eye infection is back, thanks to the viral illness. Back on the drops again ....

  8. Nose has just started to run again so back on the Day Nurse tablets :weep:

Haven't needed any tablets today but my wife still unwell ? with it as she caught it after three days of caring for me.

So "The Admirable Crichton" has donned his nursing and butler's uniform and been looking after her ? ?

  9. Got a head cold. But taking Contac and getting out and about anyway!

Another two days of drops in every four hours of the day (not night).

The eyes have been weeping a little, but otherwise doing OK I think.

I had the same thing about a year ago. Yes keeping them in the fridge was a pain for me too. Good luck.

Thanks Daja. At least they are staying clear.

  11. Tough workout in the gym and legs have turned to lead tonight!

  12.  From profile pic I now, proudly, resemble my father, and my uncle on my mother's side.

  13. Glorious weather, "scorcher from the south" maybe?

  14. Tricky day as hearing/emotional support to my wife at  medical appts. Both really tired.

And tomorrow will soon be a new day today :)

      Thanks Daja, very uplifting.

  15. 25 mins gym, 4 lengths of 20m pool, + 15 mins meditation in the spa = bliss

    1. taurean

      taurean

I can't use the pool and spa every week, as my skin dries with the chemicals - I have to in any case use Salex dermo moisturising shower gel, and moisturising cream when I do.

So it's normally the gym and occasionally the pool.

But I do meditate in the evenings anyway. The combination of exercise, meditation and the mindfulness I also practice helps to keep mind and body calm relaxed and rested.

Thanks Daja. A new machine at the gym ⛹️ really knocked me out today.

It's a cross trainer, but not for running or stepping - it's a bicycle cross trainer ?

I only managed five minutes on this machine within my overall programme, it's that demanding.

But I think it's going to prove really beneficial.

Had to go for a lie down tonight - but with a big smile ☺ on my face, and the CD ? player providing soothing music ?

  16. The update on my satnav removed the map content then failed, leaving me with NO MAPS!

    1. taurean

      taurean

Had to restore the maps but it was tricky, despite help videos, to find that option.

But I got there, I think. Seems to be working now.

This is the third time I think that updates to apps or devices I use have failed or produced a downgrade not an update.

Welcome to the 21st century everyone :weep:

  17. Am having a wonderful time using my new Sony Xperia L2 Android phone. It's brill-i-ant!

Good. While I was downstairs my iPad fell on the floor - thankfully it seems to still work.

      taurean

      That was lucky.

The 4g seems to bring to the party the ability to make a data connection even when the signal ? strength is weak. I like that :)

  18. We have been in Northampton a year, and seems like forever - we just love it here.

It's a great great place, and people keep telling me about amazing people places and businesses here.

Today I learned about an old-fashioned photographic shop where you can still buy Polaroid film.

There is a great computer repair shop - I took my laptop there when it wouldn't start. The guy checked it out, found it was stuck in an update which was stopping it firing up, to give it another half hour at home and it would start to work again.

      There was no charge :)

Next door to him is a pet shop exclusively dealing in reptiles. You couldn't make it up could you? If you were bothered about intruding animals in your garden, you wouldn't be if you had your own pet 'gator :D

It was raining when we got here last year. Today it was snowing ? but it is melting already :)

  19. Been to my hometown Rugby today to visit my elderly aunt. A real pleasure.

  20. Out  to trial new hi-tech hearing aids in various environments. Exciting!

  21. I have been so busy this week that I reckon I have already achieved what would normally take a whole week!

  22. Have updated my profile pic just now using webcam . I year older plus new specs!

You are only as old as you feel. I keep thinking I am only 30, always was a bit of a dreamer; but the camera never lies.

  23. Our Coral wedding anniversary today - 35 years. We are all loved up and very happy.

We had a great day thanks - onwards and upwards :)

  24. It's great to be in the warm, but  radiator heat dries the humidity, and I get dry skin and my wife and I dry eyes.

We have placed a watercup in each main room to help humidity, and turn the heating lower whenever we can. And we let some air in through lightly opening a couple of windows periodically.

Plus we have moisturising skin cream and eye wash and drops.

Not much more we can do.

  25. We are in warm  home, full of love and listening to Andre Rieu's "Falling in Love" CD!
