  1.  afternoon off to myself... am pigging out on all the foods I enjoy, playing candy crush and generally having a whale of a time :)

      Fair enough - I think those days are needed sometimes, I tend to turn to sweet thai chilli sensations - they are very Moorish, hence I avoid buying them too often.!

      I am so grateful to OCD-UK that we have these wonderful forums to support each other - especially at what can be stressful family occasions. 

      Here I am playing out the eve of Christmas with beautiful carols ? 

  3. After months and months of doing CBT til I'm blue in the face, I feel like I am beginning to get a genuinely good handle on my OCD and there is light at the end of the tunnel. Will never take this for granted again!

      Thanks Gemma.  I think it is the best way of keeping my mind off it for now and not undoing the other good stuff I've been doing CBT-wise.  I am just generalled pee'd off about the whole thing but the whole thing will no doubt pass in time.

  12. Decided to kick the caffeine once and for all... Crazy to drink a substance which creates anxiety (for me). Wish me luck...

      Today is day four and feel noticeably calmer, less irritable and less jittery. Also massively tired though! Sticking with it so far even though I do miss that lovely cuppa Joe.

      If you also work through some mindful meditations you can lessen the anxiety some more. 

      When I was really anxious mindful meditation was ever so helpful. 

      There are plenty of mini meditations available, but my absolute favourites are downloadable from a CD called "mini meditations for stress-free living", 7 fabulous 10-minute guided meditations by Australian psychologist Simonette Vaja. 

      It's available from Amazon or New World Music.

      Ok GBG, no migraines touch wood. But have felt light headed for 10 days now. Spoke to GP yesterday who thinks its not my blood sugar levels, but some kind of inner ear balance thing. 

      By the way the date of the event I can tell you is Sat 13th October from 7pm,  and 20 miles/30 min drive from your location.

      Your welcome Gbg :) Im not to bad thank you, I’ve got a lot of personal issues at the moment that I’m finding really hard and i can’t seem to shake off this dreaded cold either and that drags you down too. But hey, you know me I’m a fighter :yes:xx

      Just met a young stranger who told me he was in the polling station at 07.00.

      And he showed me the little piece of graphics he had just placed on his Facebook page, encouraging all that follow him to get out there and vote.

      Red velvet cake sounds nice, though not heard of it before. My wife who has a sweet tooth, says it's beetroot based - sounds interesting. I may have to give it a try.

      In the doctor novel I have been reading, a woman consults the doctor worried about the colour of her pee. 

      Turned out she had been eating beetroot cake ?

  19. Feel in a fairly good place after a rough year. I'm keeping working the CBT - ocd isn't getting a place at my table anymore!

      Today as been the most stressful day and a couple of years ago  I would have crumbled, but you know what I’m ok ? I’ve seen it through and the anxiety as passed so things must be looking better :yes: it would have took me weeks to turn it around and I’d have locked myself away, but I didn’t I went shopping, took the dog out etc and carried on with my day regardless x

  20. Feel noticeably calmer after a week off the caffeine. Really amazing. Would really recommend trying a period off the brown stuff if you're suffering. Not sure I'll ever have it again.

  24. Finally Friday!!

      It always seems to take forever to get to Friday, when we are struggling. 

      Here's hoping next week flies along nicely for you GBG. 

      A tip for everyone. I found the working week seemed to be more manageable, and go past quicker, by taking myself down to the gym on Wednesday night. 

      It was good fun, great exercise, good for relaxation by meditating in the spa pool - and at our one in London I could get something to eat afterwards - which gave my wife a night off from cooking. 

      There are no doubt various other things a person can do on a Wednesday night to achieve the same objective :)
