Sounds good, particularly if you're happy with it :)

Also, if that isn't enough remember to stick to your points and repeat if necessary x

Thanks Gemma.  I think it is the best way of keeping my mind off it for now and not undoing the other good stuff I've been doing CBT-wise.  I am just generalled pee'd off about the whole thing but the whole thing will no doubt pass in time.

Well Avo, that’s a tough one  I like ice cream with some things and cream with others  Red velvet cake for eg as got to have cream for me

      Avo

Red velvet cake sounds nice, though not heard of it before. My wife who has a sweet tooth, says it's beetroot based - sounds interesting. I may have to give it a try.

    4. taurean

      taurean

In the doctor novel I have been reading, a woman consults the doctor worried about the colour of her pee.

Turned out she had been eating beetroot cake ?

Ok GBG, no migraines touch wood. But have felt light headed for 10 days now. Spoke to GP yesterday who thinks its not my blood sugar levels, but some kind of inner ear balance thing.

By the way the date of the event I can tell you is Sat 13th October from 7pm,  and 20 miles/30 min drive from your location.

    4. gingerbreadgirl

      gingerbreadgirl

have you had any progress with your inner ear thing Ashley? Hope things are improving.  I'll keep my ear to the ground with the event in Oct!

  6. Have meds in the drawer and just don't know whether to take them.  Totally torn on whether it would be a good idea or not.

Thanks Avo :) Sorry to keep harassing you - this really is the last question I promise! - but did you have any problems with weight gain on fluox? (Feel free to tell me to mind my own business.) This is something I'm really concerned about as I find it hard enough to stay on top of my weight without making it even harder! Thank you :) x

    3. Avo

      Avo

      Hi GBG,

No problem, I am happy to help - I didn't experience weight gain, I too struggle with my weight but I had no side effects on that score.

If you read the list of side effects its almost everything you can imagine and much you can't! just try and take it literally a day at a time.

      taurean

I agree GBG you need to apply what you have learned. You - nor I - can't have the perfect answer that you may want, so it is time to stop seeking it. It's the old "certainty" trap.

We can fall down that rabbit hole, slip down the snake and just make things worse with research rumination requests.

Or we see the cognitive sense and step round the rabbit hole, hang onto and climb a ladder.

It's all about the choices we make.

    3. gingerbreadgirl

      gingerbreadgirl

Thank you both. :) I do think I need to address the way I think about some issues underpinning OCD such as self-acceptance and I don't think it will necessarily work to just step round the issue and refocus onto something else - I've got through most of my life that way, mostly fine, but it's come back to bite me massively and I think I need to address it with more than just response prevention/platitudes or it will just come back again at a later date.  It's tiring! :(

  10. People skiing when blind/visually impaired is seriously awe-inspiring. Can't imagine anything more terrifying!

    1. taurean

      taurean

I think the Paralympians are awe-inspiring, all of them. But these visually impaired ones are something else -  incredibly brave.

  12. getting totally harassed by Virgin media. If I didn't answer the first 5,000 times they rang, what makes them think I'll answer the next time and say "ooh yes, sign me up!" *grumble grumble*

They regularly wrote to me at our last address, but I was then happy with Sky.

We have signed up for Virgin Media everything here and it is, actually, very good.

Interestingly on the landline they offer free call blocking

    3. gingerbreadgirl

      gingerbreadgirl

Roy I have mentioned your comments to my OH and now she is like "maybe we could get Virgin...?"  I was like "NO I refuse on principle!"

    4. taurean

      taurean

      Ha I like that

For your info, Virgin don't use BT infrastructure like other suppliers must. They have invested billions in their own fibre network - so that is probably behind the aggressive marketing.

They are owned by mega US cable conglomerate Liberty Global.

It's not fibre optic currently into the home. Fibre goes to the street box, then co-axial cable into the home.

The product is excellent across the package  and so for me outweighs the aggression of the marketing.

  13. Getting battered by OCD atm.  Really need to walk the walk and do something about it.

Just met a young stranger who told me he was in the polling station at 07.00.

And he showed me the little piece of graphics he had just placed on his Facebook page, encouraging all that follow him to get out there and vote.
