  1. Thanks for your reply Heidi, I'm glad it helped you.I was asking for a friend who has been prescribed it but we both thought that it had to be taken with an SSRi.I did ask for it myself but my doctor wouldn't prescribe it.I hope things settle down for you.x
  2. Hello,i am hoping someone can help please? Has anyone taken Quetiapine on it's own without an SSRi please, especially for intrusive thoughts? Many thanks x
  3. Thank you Billy, I am not good with words really but I hate injustice and no where have you tried to influence anyone to have this OP, you are simply pointing out that there are other options when the usual treatment for OCD hasn't worked, for whatever reason. I just wish others could see what you are saying. As I said all the very best Billy, and am so pleased that you can finally enjoy your life x
  4. I'm so sorry Billy, that others are not responding to this, and are happy for you! Its not as if you are saying that this is for everyone,in my opinion you are just saying that it has worked for you and quite a few others as well! Daisy x
  5. You are welcome Billy, I hope your post helps others as well. Please keep in touch. Daisy x
  6. Hi Billy,i am so very pleased and grateful to see that you have written on here, with your positive outcome for DBS.I have heard of others who this procedure has worked for,and as I understand it is a procedure that isn't taken lightly,by the professionals or the patient.I know that you like myself have suffered years of torment trying all the recommended therapies, and I am certainly going to look into this,as I really am at such a low ebb I expect only others like yourself could understand. I can't tell you enough how pleased I am for you and your daughters, this illness when so severe wrecks not only our lives but those of our family as well. Thanks again Billy, and enjoy your new life. All the very best, Daisy x
  7. Thank you Ashley for this information,I will have a look into this,do you know if it applies to assessments as well please?
  8. Thank you for this OCD_Est,I didn't know until a couple of years ago about DLA,and I have had OCD for about 40 years, and fortunately I received it,but had to appeal,I think that PIPs will be hard though! Do you know if there is any other benefits for over 60's? Also the carers grant how do you go about claiming it,as my partner is effectively helping to care for me. Thanks again for this info x
  9. Yes Caramoole i agree with you. I was so pleased that he donated his winnings once again to OCD-UK,it really was so good of him to do that. Thank you so much Mikey x
  10. Yes I agree with Phil,I've been taking Diazepam for a very long time and only started off taking them as and when I needed, but am now on at least 20mg per day and finding it very hard to come off of them as they are highly addictive. Wish you the very best with your treatment x
  11. I'm so sorry to hear this,my relationship is in trouble as well, mainly due to my OCD! Thinking of you x
  12. Well done Phil for making the move to come off of them.I don't think you need to feel ashamed at all, although i know what you mean,i have been taking 20mg of Diazepam a day now for a few years,i'm like you though i want to come off of them but as you probably know it's going to be so hard, and we have to do it very very slowly. There isn't any support where i live either! Wishing you all the best with this x
  13. I totally agree with you Liberty,it is a revolting and one of the most disabling illnesses i know of,in my case(and i know i am not alone) i really can't enjoy anything! x
  14. I wish you all the best with this Phil as i need to come off of Diazepam as i have been on them for years!
  15. I am so sorry to hear that 3sqfeet,i hope therapy works for your husband,he is lucky to have you,i wish my partner was as understading x
  16. No i'm not going through therapy at the moment,i am waiting for an assessment, but i think i could do both(although would be hard),but have you seen anyone with your husband regarding his ocd and treatment?
  17. Hi 3sqfeet, Welcome to the forums,i'm sorry i can't advise you but i am in a similar situation except i am the one with OCD. I am looking for partner counselling as well, but my partner isn't keen so am hopefully going to try and see someone on my own, with the hope that my partner will join me. I hope that someone can advise you.x
  18. Thanks leagalseagull for your reply, glad that your OCD improved a bit,how are you now? x
  19. Glad to hear all's good with you Legend, and thanks again for your reply xx
  20. Thanks Legend, have had counselling but that hasn't helped. Nice to see you back on here, hope you are doing alright xx
  21. Hi Caramoole, probably not what the professionals would call real trauma, but i lost my first baby soon after he was born(i didn't even get to see him) plus his father was violent towards me,then my other son developed his problems, which is when my OCD started by me feeling that i was to blame, and still do! So although it feels like trauma to me,it probably wouldn't be classed as such. I'm not really sure if i should have written this on here,so please feel free to remove this x
  22. Thank you Caramoole,do you know who i would have to ask about being referred for this please?x
