  1. I'm not a procrastinator, just an eternal optimist. I always think there'll be more time tomorrow to do what I didn't get done today!

  2. Thought for Leap Day, 29th February: Never be afraid to take a great leap, you can't cross a chasm in two small jumps. 🐸

  3. I've just opened a sealed 5 pack of crisps and there was a live spider running around inside the bag! :omg_smilie:Presumably it got sealed in at the factory. Thankfully it wan't in with the crisps as I've just been munching them without looking. Eugh!

Don't be! It was an excellent story that I freaked my mum out with 🤣🤣🤣 And now I have the added benefit of feeling at ease when opening my multipack 😁

I had so many free crisps packets  allowed when I worked at the factory I kind of lost my appetite for them.

They are rather fattening though, so beware.

The only person going to see me naked from this point on is the undertaker who puts me in my coffin, so I don't much care if I get a tad overweight at my age. :D  Now I've reassured myself the actual crisp packets are sealed and safe,  I love crisps again - yummy! :eat:

  4. The geese that winter near where I live have started their migration. For them to arrive this early suggests it will be a cold winter. :(

  5. Does anybody else get fed up with typing their email address into every site they log onto? I reckon I type it out 30 or more times every day!!

Not as much as I hate accepting huge cookie boxes on every single site.

  6. Cherry tree coming down today. :(  Can almost hear it screaming as the chainsaw bites. Was a grand wee tree for 18 years. Just got too big. :smileys-gardening-923196:

I love cherries. I wish they had no stones in them and were the size of an apple.

How many apple-sized cherries could you eat in one go though? :eat:

  7. I've made lots of typos in my posts tonight and wouldn't you know it those are the posts everybody keeps quoting, sealing my terrible typos in cement for eternity.

  8.  Received an email from Amazon Smile to say £80 was raised for OCD-UK this quarter by people shopping on the site. So make sure you're shopping at Amazon Smile (not just Amazon UK) and choose OCD-UK as your chosen charity. No extra cost to you and it's the same shop!

That's great :) I always use amazon smile for OCD-UK, and it's even better now that you can use smile on the app :)

  9. Happy Birthday for yesterday, Roy! Sorry I'm a day late. I hope you had a wonderful 7Oth at home. :)Was there cake?  :happybirth:

    1. taurean

      taurean

There was a cake. My favourite cake, carrot cake, delivered by our best local friend and her son and daughter.

We had a lovely, socially-distanced little mini do in the garden. With cake, and squash in disposable cups.

On Hal's thread for my birthday party loads of links to you tube videos were posted, and one was of Andre Rieu and orchestra and choir singing happy birthday, then he's a jolly good fellow.

I played it for us all in the garden, linking my phone to the "aux in socket of a small portable radio so as to get good sound!

I enjoyed the other videos later, and posted some of my own.

Now I am 70 I am worried Boris will want to extend my lockdown

      ????

      snowbear

Yay! Your own birthday thread - wow, you're practically royalty. You always did say Roy meant king. :king:

  10. Just heard the jet fighters overhead, presumably on manoevres from the local RAF base. Guess they can out-fly the virus at their speed so no need for lockdown. Lol.

    1. taurean

      taurean

Apparently the best place to beat the virus is on the international space station right now.

Though the new crew just gone there had to go into 14-day quarantine and tests before they were allowed to blast off?

  11. Just said 'thank you' before hanging up the phone - on a fully automated voice! LOL

I have to tackle a robot now to get to speak to anyone - it's almost like the human is only the last resort if the robot has exhausted all his or her avenues to fix you first.

The robots are taking over - Aaghhhhh. Bring back people.

  12. Grass is pink. My eyes do not deceive me! (Ok, it'll be green again in a few days when the cherry blossom has blown off the lawn, but why spoil the surrealism.) :a1_cheesygrin:

It's the neighbour's tree, gorgeous it is. Has ten times the amount of blossom that my winter flowering cherry tree produces. The lawn is literally pink at the moment. :)

    3. taurean

      taurean

      How gorgeous. Truly blessed.

A little farther south west from where I now reside lies the Vale of Evesham - where you can take the "blossom ? route",  a wondrous drive through marvellous spring colours - our equivalent of the New England in The Fall :a1_cheesygrin:

As a family we used to drive this route in Spring, down the roman Road 'Fosse Way ' from Rugby.

My sister and I absolutely loved it ?.

Cherry blossom is so lovely ? not everyone is so lucky to have pink grass :a1_cheesygrin:

  13. Huge explosion outside the house a few minutes ago. Sonic boom, sparks flying, electrics went out and on again, faint smell of smoke. Followed by several big flashes of lightning so I assume some poor neighbour's house received a direct hit from a lightning bolt. Won't be able to see what damage has been done til daylight. Came out of nowhere, nothing before that first explosion. Now have to try to chill out, relax and get to bed!

Considering my first thought was that a bomb had gone off (being from Belfast and of a certain age has that effect on your mentality) and my second thought was a neighbour's gas boiler must have exploded I think I was impressively cool calm and collected!

    3. taurean

      taurean

Gosh what a horrible experience snowbear, but sounds like the earthing systems worked OK.

Glad you are fine and of course your reaction (from your memory bank)  would be "bomb"  but sounds like you dealt with this really well

  14. Mentally exhausted. OCD? No. Spent ALL today getting a new broadband contract and sorting house insurance. Sheesh!

I know that feeling. But house insurance comes with a deadline and I've paid WAY over the odds by lazily renewing the past 2-3 years instead of shopping around, so this year it was a case of carpe diem, ready or not. :flex: I've already had to phone the broadband people back as the confirmation email added a £50 set-up fee.  (It was supposed to be free.) They refunded it - but the cheek of sneaking it on the end of the bill in the first place!

    3. lostinme

      lostinme

We should really shop around every year when our insurance is due for renewal, my sister saves pounds by doing this she does it with everything. She did some of mine last year and I saved over £200 for the year  so it's well worth doing it but it's such a nightmare, endless hours on the phone getting the best quotes.

They are crafty I wonder how many people don't notice or don't even question it, I bet there is a fair few

Well done snowbear hope the broadband settles down into a better service for you.

  16. My mind is buzzing with ideas for projects I want to take on. Have a feeling I've got a new career ahead of me and potential yet to be realised. Not bad for someone of my dinosaur age... So come on all you young people, no more hanging around waiting for life to begin- get living!

You give an enormous amount here too snowbear, and have definitely helped lots of folks, including me.

Great sense of humour too, you could factor that into a project :)

Keep thinking and planning, that's great.

    3. snowbear

      snowbear

Thanks, Roy! I hadn't considered my wacky sense of humour as being something to use on these 'serious' projects, especially if writing to charity officials and MPs and stuff, but hey, somebody's got to replace Boris as the public joker, right?

I think a sense of humour combined with compassion and care is the absolute best way to tackle these issues! Go for it Snowy!

  17. Without thinking I went to take some painkillers just now but before I took them I realised I was trying to fix a heartache, not physical pain. Easy to see how drug addiction starts. :(
