About Me

I am 48 years of age and I have suffered with ocd for 41 years now and along the way I've seen quite a few psychologists. Until  now I have failed miserably trying to do cbt. I realised I needed to fight this because I was no longer in control, the ocd had taken over my life completely. I am now under a new psychologist doing cbt and I've just had my 18 week review and I am quite pleased with what I have achieved so far. I think you need to be ready to fight it yourself to be able to do it, I really am putting everything I've got into doing this because i don't want to live this way any more and would like to enjoy the rest of my life, however I do somtimes fail doing all my cbt work but if I am bad one day and don't manage to do it, I will get back into it the day after and start again. I have one teenage daughter and I would like to get better to give her a better life and do the things she would like me to do and be a normal mother. She would love me to take her to a festival which I haven't been able to do, but I'm planning that by next year i will be able to do this with her, what an achievement that would be. My favourite pastime is metal clay ( jewellery making ) I passed my level 1 certification and my level 2 certification which allows me to teach it. I would love to go on to do my masters when I feel well enough to do it, this would be a major challenge because I would have to complete 50 items of jewellery to specific specifications. I also like art and painting and sewing but unfortunately I don't do any of these at the moment because of my ocd and I am hoping to be able to do these again as soon as I feel capable of starting again.
