  1. Hi @Trish L just practically would he able to tolerate the cream if he covered his hands straight away with some gloves/socks/just wrapped them up before bed? Although that may be doubly too much. The lightest texture handcream I have found that helps a little is vaseline Advanced Repair Hand Cream. Could you apply it just to the backs of his hands for him? Some of the creams sting on broken skin, I can't remember if this one does. All that aside I hope he gets the help he needs soon.
  2. I was waiting for you to watch it first ? so now I know it's safe to watch!

  5. Thanks @Ashley. I hope it all goes smoothly. I'm looking forward to it but roll on when we can meet in person again!
  6. Helpful posts thank you @Dakagraphics-David I've got a fear of supermarket conveyor belts at the moment. They never look clean. Wet patches and bits. It has never occured to me the wet might be from frozen food always a more sinister explanation!
  7. No so weird I've had the same thought just yesterday! I don't know so I use the washing machine as usual. It's good enough for everyone else.
  8. I'm not sure you need pest control as such. But personally I would lay a few more traps (check behind the fridge they like it there) and use chocolate or peanut butter in the traps. They can be pesky to get out and lie low for a while. But if this is going to trigger your OCD more do nothing

  10. I am so sorry this has happened to you. It sounds very distressing. That thing with carrying the poo is the same thing and thoughts I would do ?? it's so annoying! On a practical level have you had pest control in to trap any mice?
  11. @HGR you are not failing, it is that hard. Try and take care of you too. Are you entitled to take parental leave? It might not be an option and probably unpaid but could be worth investigating.
  12. Can you go back to where you started doing the exposures and go from there? Hopefully be able to move through quicker and easier second time around to take back the ground.
  13. This happens to me. It's bizarre isn't it!
  14. No I don't think this would both people without contamination OCD. Why can't you use them if they are in a package?
  15. Positive or not Ashley it's real and true and that's what sufferers need to hear. Plus by keeping talking about it's showing others that if their recovery journey doesn't go from a to b in a straight line that's okay too. I hope you can work with a therapist that you're comfortable with soon to address this.
  16. Who has diagnosed you? There's loads of information on the main charity page and recommended books available to purchase too. Popular opinion is that OCD involves a physical compulsion but that's not always the case. OCD can be mild. It can be incredibly severe. It's still OCD. Hope you can find the information you need.
  17. Great piece of writing @Ashley Thank you, once again, for your openness. Keep heading in the right direction!
  18. I'm not sure if we can signpost to other organisations on the forum @Caramoole@Ashley please remove if not and apologies. There is an organisation called Maternal OCD who may be able to offer some support. As @PolarBear has said leave it alone. Try and refocus on some holiday activities instead. this sounds like a really tough time for you. Don't feel guilty for being unwell. Can you contact someone from the places that are supporting you at the moment while on holiday if it gets really bad?
  19. What did your friends do / say in this situation?
  20. I am so sorry this has happened to you. This is so unbelievably rude and I am furious on your (and your parents) behalf. If it was me I wouldn't read it because it would upset me more. Could there have been anything else in there she was referring to?
  21. To err on the side of caution I personally wouldn't go for lunch tomorrow. Is your mother in law going to take a test? If so that will make the decision for you. In laws are known for being tricky so I feel for you in this situation. Other than that I don't think it's unreasonable to take some lateral flow tests over the next week or so but then go back to normal.
  22. https://metro.co.uk/2021/07/21/does-having-ocd-put-you-at-a-higher-risk-of-drug-addiction-14910748/ @Ashley just leaving this one there!
