In my opinion, this is not ocd. Your husband cheated the system and fraudulently bribed his way to his qualifications. You have now found this out and you are finding it difficult to come to terms with the truth. Your husband is completely belittling what he did. This does not sit right with you. You are trying to find arguments to justify his wrong and bad behsviour. If he was able to accept your view then it might not be as bad. You find it difficult to be honest about your view, to your husband. You don't want to accept he is a cheat. You want an alternative explanation so you don't have to deal with this.

Don't agree with angst. Not sure debating the legitimacy of perceived legitimacy is appropriate

Do normal people do this?
Andy333 replied to Chris1987's topic in Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
Chris, obviously ocd, as you well know -
I am so sorry if I upset you. I read all your posts and just feel you keep going round in circles, I just want you to get out of this vicious cycle and enjoy life.

I don't think this is an ocd issue, most people get ****** off with a beeping alarm

I used to have bad ocd contamination and would have to use paper towels to turn the tap off etc. As part of therapy, I stopped washing my hands including after going to the toilet. Given that putting your hand down the toilet and then rubbing your face and licking your fingers is a key part of CBT therapy isn't it best to not wash your hands?? The whole contamination worry is a false economy. I find that it is best to go to the opposite extreme with contamination ocd.

I have found this book amazingly useful for OCD recovery. Has anybody else read this book? -
Road to recovery queries

Yeah, as long as it is reducing/delaying as opposed to carrying out the same amount of rituals and compulsions but just doing it quicker -
Road to recovery queries
Andy333 replied to Cookiedough's topic in Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
In uk, people wash their hands with soap after doing a poo. We use loo roll and would never dream of touching the poo. Irinically , all the people who come from India etc will always use their hands to scrape the poo from their ass. As standard, toilet roll is not used in India. Even though they have recently come to UK to work, they maintain using their hands to clean the poo from their ass. Even though loo roll is available here, they prefer to use their hands. Its just about perception. These same people will then make our takeaway food etc and other foods like bread etc. They will handle the food, fruit , veg that we eat. We can't control other people, so it is irrational to worry so much about poo. -

I don't feel cutting down the time is useful if you are simply carrying out ocd rituals quicker -
I think you should consult Gp

Ironically it is because you are a good and caring mother and Nanny that you worry so much. It is the OCD and the anxiety that's the problem.

Thanks Caramoole, amazing reply. I agree, I often see the Sertraline as temporary symptomatic relief max 20% temporary decrease in symptoms. It is definitely good CBT that can kill the OCD, and on a long term basis. I have decided I will go for the higher dose. I feel I kind of need that helping hand as I tackle the higher up harder OCD problems. Thanks for replying ?

I have been on Sertraline 200mg for 2 years. I am lucky that have tolerated them really well. No side effects at all. I have made a lot of good progress with OCD recovery using CBT. It's difficult to identify what impact each had. I decided to stick with it. I am now on the harder parts of CBT, which I am struggling with. Veale says it's fine to go up to 400mg daily. I trust him. I feel if it can help me to get to fill recovery, it would be really good. Any views on this?

Good decision, in my opinion
