  1. Hello and welcome to the forums. Perhaps because you are looking outwards. In any situation looking outwards is a positive sign. You have come here to talk - there will be people listening. Are you managing to talk to anyone else as well?
  2. On that I had in mind my current situation where my mood has taken a very significant dip and I am in deep depression. For CBT to work I would need to be in a frame of mind where I would be receptive to the therapy. At this point in time I feel that is not the case. My understanding is that the medical people often like to get people started on medication for several weeks/months and this helps to get people in to a more receptive frame of mind to any therapy. That is how it worked for me in my 2020-21 episode.
  3. Hello Adamski and welcome back. In a nutshell, nothing has changed. The old and new strategies and therapies are equally valid. Looking back to 1993-94 the main therapy used for my OCD/depression was diversion therapy. It served me well and over a long period propelled me from deep depression/OCD to getting full time employment in the NHS. The modern therapy preference is CBT but that will only work under certain conditions. There is nothing new under the sun. Whatever is has been before and will surely come again.
  4. You are not alone. I hear what you are saying. Your post echoes where I am right now. I am currently in state of deep depression (my medical team have been informed). The thing I can suggest is to keep on trying to look outwards. Help is at hand.
