  1. Hi Angst.... My therapist advises to 'acknowledge' the feelings and then move on with something you need to do or want to do. She uses the word 'acknowledge' rather than the word 'distract' as it is important to feel the feeling and acknowledge it is there and to let it be there - but then to get on with things rather than just 'distract' yourself from the feeling. I think this is probably what you mean anyway but just thought I would add it in case it is of any help.
  2. Some really great answers here. I could just add that I have often heard from other sufferers and professionals that if you are wondering if it's OCD then it almost certainly is OCD!
  3. Thank you so much Laura. This is really helpful X
  4. Hi everyone this is my first post I just wanted to share that I am really pleased with myself because last night I had a big anxiety spike in reaction to something that was happening and I didn’t react to it by behaviours or going over and over it in my head or seeking reassurance but I just sat with it and got on with things. I had planned to have a drink with my husband a bit later in the evening but I chose not to drink alcohol because I didn’t want to squash the anxiety. I just felt yeah bring it on!
  5. Hey Summer9173... hope you are doing ok today. X
